Police silenced twice in Parliament
Full Time : National Assembly 2 – 0 Nkwazi (Gloria Stacey Mwelwa, Donaria Simaundu)
National Assembly on Saturday hosted High Flying Nkwazi in the Showgrounds in one of the toughest Week 15 fixture as bragging rights were at stake.
In the reverse fixture played at Chibolya grounds both teams settled for a 1 – 1 draw a sign which showed that this tie could have gone either way but the home side triumphed 2-nil courtesy of goals from Gloria Stacey Mwelwa and Donaria Simaundu.
A Goal in each half from Mwelwa who is on loan from Red Arrows and Simaundu ‘Dante’ was all what the Coach Elophy Kutayaya drilled side needed to collect maximum 3 points against the Coach Patrick Lubinda Mundia side as this result increased their league title hope.
The home team were a better side throughout the game and gave their opponents a good run for their money with the likes of Elina Mbewe who had one of her best games in midfield alongside the rejuvenated Grace ‘Coin’ Mulaisho, Elina Nyirenda who had a quiet game.
Norin Betani who replaced Nawa Mafulo was a marvel to watch upfront Partnering with Mwelwa and on the right wing was the speedy Simaundu who equally had a great game and gave Natasha Mushiko, Towera Nkhata, Martha Jere and Company a tough time.
Mwelwa Scored towards the half hour mark connecting well from Simaundu’s Cross in the 18yard box to put the home team in the lead going into the break.
At Half time The Parliamentarians led 1 – 0.
There was no much difference interms of play in the second half as both teams were hungry and looked for more goals.
But it was Assembly who were always knocking on Nkwazi’s door with
Mwelwa almost making it 2 for the home team with Nkwazi Goalkeeper Miniva Munene completely Beaten but her shot was cleared off the line by an On Rushing Lushomo Mweemba. Moments later Mulaisho set up the Ball for Simaundu who neatly scored the second goal for Assembly.
Mwelwa was again involved in the thick of things and scored from run of play towards the end of the match finishing off the ball and calmly putting it behind the net after a great build up and works from Betani and Simaundu who beat Munene in goal only for the Referee to blow for Offside.
Assembly Goalkeeper Bupe Mwanza had nothing much to do and was barely troubled as her defence led by Sylvia Bwalya alongside Dorothy Lungu, Thelma Phiri and Florence Tembo was very solid and equal to the task giving absolutely no space to Nkwazi’s striking duo of Thandiwe Nkhata and Masamba Euniver upfront with the hardworking Mary Sakala on the left wing not given enough room to penetrate through the defence.
Nkwazi defence marshalled by Lushomo Mweemba with Azed Phiri, Elizabeth Mulenga and the enterprising Lillian Matavu had a tough time handling the attacking Trio of Mwelwa, Betani And Simaundu with Munene between the sticks being caught off guard on some occasions though she was quick in reacting.
Despite having a fighting spirit, Nkwazi had so many misplaced passes and failed to put strings together in the final third otherwise they had a good game and lost due to lack of proper communication and cordination in defence.
Next Assignment for National Assembly will be an away fixture in Kanyama visiting Luyando Foundation while Nkwazi will have a home date against log leaders Green Buffaloes at Chibolya Ground.
