Players abroad: Fashion, Augustine and Jacob on target as the tiger makes its first roar

A number of Zambian players were in action over the weekend. Edward Chilufya achieved a personal milestone scoring his first-ever Swedish league goal.

Fashion Sakala, Augustine Mulenga, and Jacob Mulenga also found the back of the net for their respective clubs.


In South Africa: Chipolopoloo winger Augustine Mulenga scored the opening goal to help Orlando Pirates bag their fifth Carling Black Label Cup following a 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs. Justin Shonga put in an impressive shift for the buccaneers.

Lazarus Kambole made his competitive
debut for Amakhosi and played 62 minutes of the match.

The other players in the PSL will only be this coming weekend as the league kicks off.

In Tanzania: Clatous Chota Chama and his Simba SC teammates are currently in South Africa for their preseason.

In Austria: Patson Daka played the first 62 minutes while Enock Mwepu came from the bench to play the last 19 minutes in Redbull Salzburg 2-0 win over Rapid Wien.

Takumi Minamino and Masaya Okugawa scored the goals for Salzburg.

In Belgium: Striker Fashion Sakala came from the bench to score the winning goal for KV Oostende who recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over giants Anderlecht in a Belgian Jupiler Pro League matchday one encounter away at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.

Sakala was introduced in the 58th minute to replace Venezuelan midfielder, Ronald Alejandro Vargas Aranguren and scored seventeen minutes later to seal a 2-1 win for the KustBoys.

In China: Former Zambia national team striker Jacob Mulenga was on target but his goal was however not enough as his side, Liaoning Kiaxin suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Beijing BSU. Mulenga put in a full ninety minute shift.

In France: Stophila Sunzu and his Metz teammates played out to a one-all draw with Amiens SC in a preseason friendly match.

In Poland, Winger Lubambo Musonda put in a full shift for Śląsk Wrocław who recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Piast Gliwice.

In Russia, Lameck Banda came from the bench to play the last eleven minutes for Arsenal Tula who suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rostov. Klings Kangwa was an unused substitute while Evans Kangwa was not included in the matchday squad.

In Sweden: Winger Edward Chilufya came from the bench to score the second goal for Djurgarden IF in their Swedish Allsvenskan 2-0 win over BK Häcken opening his goal account for the season.

The goal was Chilufya’s first ever in the Swedish League (Allsvenskan) since joining Djurgadens back in 2018.

In the USA: Mutaya Mwape played 82 minutes for Richmond Kickers who recorded a 2-1 win over Toronto II in a USL League one encounter.
