Patson, Mwepu shine for Red Bull

Zambia National team striker Patson Daka scored his first goal for Redbull Salzburg their 3-1 win over ASK BSC BRUCK. Daka came on in the second half of Extra time and just needed three minutes on the pitch to get on the scoresheet and propel Salzburg to the third round of the UNIQ ÖFB Cup.

This was Daka’s first goal for Redbull Salzburg. Daka who has for the last few games been playing with Salzburg from the junior team Liefering scored the winning goal of the match in the 111th minute.

Midfielder Enock Mwepu was called to Redbull Salzburg for the first time and started on the bench. The former Napsa Stars player was introduced in the 63rd minute for his Redbull Salzburg debut and wanted no time in making a mark as he assisted Hannes Wolf to score Salzburg’s second goal.

Redbull have now progressed to the third round of the UNIQ ÖFB Cup and await the draw to know their next opponents.

  1. My Goodness Daka and Mwepu are surely getting the best football education ,this should inspire upcoming young players @zamfoot could you stop reporting on Charly jr we have lots young players that want to play Zambia that you should give the spot light. Thanks for the article on the two Zambian lads.

  2. These two young men are doing great….add fashion Sakala & Edward Chilufya in the mix then you have a real goal threat! Keep up the good work

  3. iSOKA, YOU ARE VERY RIGHT, LETS FORGET ABOUT THIS MUSONDA BOY. I FEEL BAD ESPECIALLY WHEN I REMEMBER WHAT THE MOTHER TO THIS BOY SAID ABOUT ZAMBIA. LET HIM PLAY FOR BELGIUM SINCE THE MOTHER ALREAdy TOLD US THAT HE IS NOT ZAMBIAN.

    • If you look at his citizenship now, he is both Zambian and Belgiun. I believe this is because of the ammended constitution. Do not rule him out. There is no benefit in playing for Belgium or England for that matter. Perhaps a better pay. However, in terms of trophies, he stands a better chance. He would benefit more by playing for Zambia than any of those two countries.
The very fact that he has added “Zambian” to his citizenship, as far as I know, shows that he thinks of this land. Let us not throw him away, neither his brothers. The mother, well, she was emotional and may have been brash. We do not know for sure what motivated her to say that. We do not know the inside story. I for one, hopw for the best, to play for Zambia. If Charly comes, it would be good. If he does not, he will still have Zambian blood flowing through him. My message to him is, he should know that he has competition. we know he is good. but he may not find it easy even with our current crop of players. Zambia is on the rise.
as for the introduction of the other new lad from Nkwazi, we do not know who this young man is… some of us. He may just be our Pele. the coach knows why he roped him in. Experience? I play football. the only major experience you need besides your skill, is “lack of fear” does the lad have it? If he does, then he is ready. Look at how Mwepu played, tussling and out-muscling experienced Algerian midfielders.

      • I agree with you on the Young Nkwazi lad, remember not a long time ago what change Mbesuma brought to Zambian football at that time If I can remember very well Mbesuma was almost the same age.

    • MUSONDA JUST SCORED HIS FIRST GOAL FOR CHELSE AND WAS CRYING
AS A BABBY;;OF COURSE HE IS A BABBY HAHAHAHAHA.

ANYWAY,, THERE IS NOTHING THAT MUSONDA JR WILL GET FROM ZAMBIA.

REASONS,,I AM A GHANAIAN AND I KNOW HOW MANY OVERSEAS BORN
      GHANAIANS THAT HAS BEEN SPOILED;;..K

      • Stop ranting all the Sons of Abedi Pele Ayew were born overseas and they play for Ghana…… what are you talking about?

  4. Stop Insulting the Boy, a mistake was made and it has to be corrected. Who is better between this boy, who has not even kicked a ball under a Chipolopolo jersey, and Fwayo Tembo whose temper goes beyond national duty. The parents, especially the Mother, spoke on his behalf did you hear him speak anything against Zambia? In this matter we must be realistic as the hammer must fall on the offender. On the pitch it will be him who will be playing not the parents and as at now allow him to make a name for himself and maybe correct the mistakes that the Father and Mother made.
The Problem with Zambian Soccer Fans is that most of you think with the pen/pencil not with the brain and logically….. Remember how you Insulted Harve Renard then the AFCON Cup in 2012, How you Insulted WADA and then a back to back victory over Algeria and 18 places up the FIFA Rankings. Please stop this nonsense and let us uplift the game we love together We are Zambians Love and forgiveness must be the order of the day! We must also not forget GRATITUDE as people who do good things for our Country must be appreciated…. Say thank you to WADA for what He did! even Great Kalu and Kamanga need to appreciated.

  5. If I can remember Patson Daka was ripped apart with Insults on this same site you are praising Him, This is why God has lifted this Boy mwebena Zambia muleke insele ne misango Iyi iyabula amano even WADA was stripped off his dignity please let us be like South Africans who “to me” have a positive spirit. If only Zambian supporters could have that Zambia will go very far!
    Please STOP IT!

  6. Well done to the two young men. They are an example to a lot of young up coming players.

On Charlie Junior if he wants to play for Zambia one day let him come. He will bring competition to the team. He has Zambian blood flowing in him. Lets not be too critical without facts.

  7. Charly musonda’s head and legs is to play for belgium at chelsea, harzard eden is his mentor so as he can take over his number 10 role should he move on to real or barca, moreover why would harzard mentor him charly jr to play for zambia rather than belgium wake up fellow bloggers ask our fellow west africans how they feel about players showing up to play at world cups but snub playing at the africa cup of nations, if i recall i watched charly jr been asked by Ronaldo CR7 after the beitis / real match laliga where he charly was from he repiled belgium now do think cr7 would have asked if he name was MUSONDADINHO lol Cr7 must have questioned him merely to find out where his roots where from the kid never mentioned Zambia at all. We got good football programs in zambia right now that will produce great players for chipolopolo lets put Zambia 1st.

  8. Mmm! Daka was was insulted yes but that made him work hard and discover his form which wouldn’t have been discovered if we didn’t insult him but critics are better than just insulting him as mentioned earlier wada also needs to criticized so that he work on his weakness especially in the selection of Adrian cham and Ng’onga Alex

  9. Secondly chaly needs to be forgotten naimwe look at Nigeria they have good play for example Jordon lbe who chose to play 4 England but no one is crying 4 him what about us we also have good players but most of them lacks confidence especially when playing in competitive leagues eg England. An example of those players is Emmanuel mayuka lost his form just after he move to England he failed to compete 4 a place with lambart who also lost his form just after leaving Thousampton 4 Liverpool.

  10. Charly Musonda’s decision as a teen was made by parents, but now he will be able to make his own decisions on nationality in consultation with parents and consultants. The only challenge is that if one does not regularly visit his own country they loose tough. Days are gone when someone who lives out of the country whether Europe or USA or anywhere else would come here to shine. If one works hard, one can achieve greater things locally and be able to travel everywhere and be a well informed citizen.

The Zambia and Africa of yester years is gone, now it is complete transformation. I do not envy being a resident of a foreign country even citizenship of another country other than Zambia. You can see what has happened with President Weah of Liberia, he made a name as a footballer, now forgotten in Europe, however he maintained during the hay days and had strong link with his native country and he is now president. Can you imagine who he would have been if he remained in Europe after making that big name, they would have finished his money and he would by now being a popper maybe a drug addict.

Zambians in the diaspora think twice in what ever you are doing! inclusive with the Musonda’s the best place to live in, in your retirement is Zambia or your native country not to die in nursing houses and cremated…
