Nyirenda targets maximum against Namibia

Zambia Coach Wedson Nyirenda has urged his boys to collect maximum points against neighbours Namibia in final Group B match at the on going CHAN tournament in Morocco.

While the Chipolopolo Boys have set the tournament on fire with efficient and mature displays, the Brave Warriors are not too far away after two giant killing performances.

“Cote d’Ivoire gave us a good run. The fact that we emerged victors doesn’t mean we are the best,” Nyirenda said in a post match interview

“We saw a very good Ivorian team and they really gave us a good run for our money.

Wada also applauded his team’s fîtness levels ahead of the Namibia clash on Monday.

“We were fitter and better and won the game. We may have qualified but won’t take the last match easy.

The Brave Warriors have snatched 1-0 over Ivory Coast and Uganda thanks to injury time goals in both matches.

“We need to do our best and make sure we collect the maximum points in the third game against Namibia,” Nyirenda said.

Zambia and Namibia are level on 6 points with former leading Group B thanks to a superior goal difference.

  1. Those are mature comments ,coach.”I didn’t know that our coach has a degree in management, from the university of Liverpool. No wander he is genius. How I wish coach that in the second half of the nest game, depending on the display in the first half, you can test other players. All mature and wise Zambians are behind you, both in hard and good times. You can’t please everyone, But wise and mature people will acknowledge you hard work and give credit where it is due.keep it up.

  2. to go. Coach congrats… Its Chipolopolo all the way until we lift the trophy. I would prefer you rest most of our influential players 1. to avoid yellow cards, 2. injuries. 3. to also give chance to other players and confuse the enemy.

  3. The Namibians always seem to find an extra gear against us. A draw will be ok.
In the next round hopefully we can silence a few of those loud mouths who live along longitude 10 degrees

    • These are countries laying along the longitude line 10 degrees. On the African continent, that line has countries mainly from the western part of the continent. I want to believe GSK 11 means some ‘Chicken’ West African country currently participating at CHAN LOL

  4. I feel Nyirenda should learn to preserve the Players if he wants to go far in a tournament of this magnitude. I feel he should have substituted some players like Kambole earlier in order to give that Boy from Lumwana Radiants some game time. Yesterday , he at one time was playing with three defensive minded players in midfield – Kondwani , Malama and Jack Chirwa , we know he was trying to manage the game but surely not the players. We hope to see lots of new faces in the Namibia game so that the current starting eleven can get some much needed rest as we prepare to face either Morocco or Sudan.
If all the players he carried were selected on merit , why not give them a chance to experience game-time?
