Nyirenda drops Sinkala, names Singuluma in Mozambique AfCON qualifier squad

Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda has recalled strikers Given Singuluma and Winstone Kalengo to the national team for the Africa Cup quaifier match against Mozambique.

According to the list obtained by the ZamFoot Crew, Nyirenda has also named fit again Collins Mbesuma and Jackson Mwanza but has dropped veteran striker Jonas Sakuwaha and Ignatious Lwipa.

There is however no place for Nathan Sinkala in the 30 man squad who misses together with Armenia based Lubambo Musonda who has not been part of the team since Wada Wada took over the squad.

Sinkala started on the bench in Zambia’s last outing.

From the team that held Cameroon away in Zambia’s last competitive in November, Kabaso Chongo and Evans Kangwa are the notable absentees.

Adrian Chama, Isaac Chansa, Rodrick Kabwe, Charles Zulu, Rodgers Kola, Allan Chibwe who all started on the bench have also been dropped.

The Chipolopolo fly to Gabon tomorrow for a friendly match to be played on Sunday before the return to Ndola where they will be in camp until they play Mozambique next week.

  1. Sinkala had so much promise….its a shame how he has failed to deliver….we hope young Ngosa Sunzu and Boyd Musonda can develop into decent holding midfielders

  2. Sinkala has been off form for a whiiiiiiillleeee. Its about time. A replacement for Mweene is what seems the hardest at the moment. Mangani Banda, though good is too short and can be shaky sometimes.

  4. I am now believing people who keep saying wada is not up to scratch as a national team coach. Collins has not played a proper game this year. Winston Kalengo last scored 5 months ago. The rest of the players upfront leave me speechless (shonga, and given??), maybe Jackson Mwanza has something but he is coming off an injury. Why not select – Jacob Mulenga, Chamanga or Evans Kangwa, maybe even try Moses Phiri in portugal. There is no one up front in that selected team.

    • I watched him playing here in South Africa for Kaizer Chiefs and he was such a terrific striker in the early 90s.But I do not think he qualifies to be a coach in my personal point of view.Bring Patrick Phiri and Beston Chambeshi as coaches for the Zambia senior side

  5. This team is full of former and current ZANACO players.I see this coach failing . augstine mulenga, dave daka, ziyo ,taonga ,toaster, fackson and george chilufya.

I would rather watch the under 20 than these chickens
