Nkana bow out of the CAF confederation cup with a victory
Nkana football club has been eliminated from the CAF confederation cup despite a narrow one nil home win in their second leg encounter against CR Belouizdad of Algeria.
Nkana suffered a three nil bashing in Algeria and were in need of four unanswered goals to progress to the next round. Beston Chambeshi put up a the strongest possible starting line-up with Walter Bwalya, Ronald Kampamba and Idris Ilunga Mbombo all starting as they looked to score as many goals as possible.
Nkana controlled proceeding from the start of the match but we’re sloppy in the final third and failed to take full advantage of the chances they created. The match went to the break with the scores level at nil nil.
Just two minutes after the re-start Diego Apanane put Nkana in the lead converting from the spot. Minutes later Nkana were awarded another penalty and Apanane stepped up but this time failed to score .
Belouizdad held on to win the tie three goals to one on aggregate and progress to the pre-group stage while Nkana bow out
