Nkana back Chambeshi for Chipolopolo top job

Nkana president Evaristo Kabila says the club will encourage Beston Chambeshi to push in his application for the Chipolopolo job.

Kabila told Zambia Daily Mail in an interview that ‘Quicksilver’ was ripe to drill the Zambia national team as he is a proven coach.

“Beston Chambeshi is one of the best coaches in Zambia. He has played football at the highest level and he has performed wherever he has been,”

Chambeshi led the Zambia U20 national team to their maiden AFCON title and guided them to a quarter-final appearance at the U20 World Cup.

The Football Association of Zambia is expected to start the process of hiring a new Chipolopolo coach by opening the application process any time soon. FAZ had earlier settled for Serbian trainer Vaselin Jelušic but Government advised FAZ to advertise the job and follow the right Channel.

However, with time running out before the start of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, the ZamFoot Crew understands that FAZ may settle for a local coach. Current stand-in coach Aggrey Chiyangi and Chambeshi are top on the list of the coaches to take up the mantle.

The Copper Bullets top job has been vacant since the departure of Belgian trainer Sven Vandenbroek back in February.

Local coach have proven a failure. If u hire a local coach, it will be try and error

  2. Bsimms says:

Let’s see how he performs with the U23. He can be considered for the job once we make it & impress at the Olympics….

Let’s see how he will cope with the absence of Key players as they will be expected to play in the Champions league, Russian league e.t.c

Let’s see how he will cope with our local players on the big stage….

Right now Chiyengi can continue his trial journey. Cosafa was not convincing….

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN SUPPORT OF BESTON CHAMBESHI TAKING OVER THE TOP JOB OF SENIOR CHIPOLOPOLO NATIONAL TEAM COACH. BESTON IS A GOOD COACH, HE MANAGES TO WIN AWAY GAMES NO MATTER THE PRESSURE, WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE TEAM. AGGREY IS A COACH BUT HE IS DEFENSIVE THAN GOAL MINDED, MAY BE IF AGGREY BECOMES THE ASSISTANT TO DRILL THE DEFENCE WHILST BESTON WORK ON THE ATTACKING, I THINK THEY TWO CAN MAKE A GOOD COMBINATION. LET US GIVE BESTON A CHAMBESHI I AM PRETTY SURE WITH HIM THE TEAM WILL QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME. GOD BLESS YOU, GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

Wait until we play good teams like Senegal or Algeria then he will be exposed tactically and technically. Let Quick Silver continue with the U23’s. He is doing a good job there.

We have missed out on AFCON twice now because of local Coaches. We will soon start Qatar WC qualifiers where we need a very good Coach and not someone learning the “ropes”.

  4. Bsimms says:

A combination of both after CHAN the Olympics would be great. They would have auditioned & displayed their worth. At that point the main job can be given to our very own coaches.

  5. Positive thinking says:

This whole thing is disappointing. Hiring a coach for the senior team should have been done a long time ago. Now the new coach, whoever that is, will come in and immediately have to prep the team for a critical qualifier against the current African Champions. This is the worst FAZ admin I have ever witnessed. Whoever gets the job is being setup for failure.
