New National Division One to go live on ZNBC

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has engaged the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) on the prospect of airing Division One games. FAZ has announced that the Association will introduce a National Division in 2019.

Kamanga visited ZNBC on Tuesday and disclosed that FAZ has secured sponsorship for National Division One and the Association is currently looking for a broadcasting partner.

“We have a Super League and we will also have a national Division One and of course provinces will continue with division 1,2 and 3. This means that we will need to reach out to our grassroots and we think that through the corporation we are likely to conclude with ZNBC, we should be able to move together. What will be important is the structure of our partnership which will definitely make us meet each other halfway. Our Division One is available for sponsorship. We have managed to secure some sponsors who are ready to partner with FAZ. We are also looking at a broadcasting partner and we feel ZNBC will be given an equal opportunity to come to the part when we introduce our National Division One next year,” Kamanga said.

And ZNBC Director General, Richard Mwanza expressed delight at the prospects of a long term partnership with FAZ.

“The equipment that we have is state of the art that other international institutions are currently using for televising sport. For us, we feel partnering with you is the right thing. There are local games that are currently not televised which we feel with this equipment we can ably televise live games,” he said.

  1. Sounds like a mess. What’s wrong with current system from 70s?
So new teams are invited to be formed or Zesco can withdraw from super league and join National Division 1?

  2. Why can’t ZNBC just open another channel for sports? they can even start televising games from their archives or those of ZANIS who have lots of them rotting in store. This could then be the channel that televises live games when there are some to show and when there are no games you rewind time and show us the 1970s, 1980s, etc., games.
Otherwise on any other channel, Politics will take precedence and there will be too may disruptions.
