Nchanga demoted to Div 1 for match fixing

Super division side Nchanga Rangers has been demoted to division one after they club was found guilty of allegations of match fixing by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee.

In an unprecedented ruling in Zambian football, the former league champions are alleged to have tried to bribe a match official before the match against Nkwazi which they lost 2 – 1.

Mufulira Wanderers were also awarded points for the abandoned match against Power Dynamos while Power were fined.

DECISIONS OF THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE OF THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA DURING THEIR MEETING HELD ON 5 NOVEMBER, 2016

POWER DYNAMOS FOOTBALL CLUB VS MUFULIRA WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB (SUPER DIVISION WEEK 29 PLAYED ON 22ND OCTOBER, 2016)

COMPOSTION OF DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE

BRIEF ACTS OF THE CASE:

The game was abandoned due to outside interference at half time. The Assistant Referee Mr. Mumba was hit with a bottle on his left hand which made him fail to perform his duties. This was in the 44th minute of first half. The two Doctors from both teams were called to attend to the Assistant Referee after the first aid the assistant referee was taken to the Hospital for further treatment.

REFERENCES:

FAZ, CAF AND FIFA Statutes States that a team causing abandonment of a game for what-ever reasons will Sanctioned by forfeiture of the match.

Decision is made pursuant to Article 77, 99, 109 and Appendix C 1.123 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code.

DECISION

The Committee after considering the verbal and written submissions from the two clubs and the report from the referee, found Power Dynamos Football Club guilty of having caused the match to be abandoned.

The Committee decided as follows:

(1) Power Dynamos Football Club are fined K10000 for causing the match to be abandoned and accrued 150 penalty points.

(2) Three points awarded to Mufulira Wanderers Football Club on three goals to zero basis.

(3) The medical expenses incurred by the Assistant Referee must be paid by Power Dynamos Football Club.

Club fines must be paid within 14 days from the date of the meeting. Personal fines must paid within 30 days from the date of meeting. Out ultimate responsibility for payments fines rests with the club under a principal of joint and several responsibility.
Power Dynamos Football Club is encouraged to provide adequate Security, Correct hospitality at all their home games.

NCHANGA RANGERS- CORRUPTION

BRIEF FACTS

A referee reported an offer, promise and grant of cash to unjustifiably advantage Nchanga Rangers in a game against Nkhwazi Football inviting him to violate FAZ Rules and Regulations. The whole conversation was recorded and played in the meeting.

The meeting was further informed that Six persons were summoned to appear before the disciplinary Committee without fail. Four did not.

DECISION

The Committee after considering the verbal Submissions from Nchanga Rangers and the report from the referee, found Nchanga Rangers Football Club guilty of attempting to corrupt the match official.

The Committee further decided as follows:

(1) Nchanga Rangers be demoted to Division One taking effect in the 2017 Season.

(2) The four absentees be fined K5000 each for failing to appear.

(3) The four absentees mentioned by name in the recording be banned for life. The life ban include a ban in performing any Football Activities and entering any stadium.

Club fines must be paid within 14 days from the date of the meeting. Personal fines must paid within 30 days from the date of meeting. Ultimate responsibility for payments fines rests with the club under a principal of joint and several responsibility

MUFULIRA BLACKPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB VS GREEN EAGLES FOOTBALL CLUB (SUPER DIVISION WEEK 29 PLAYED ON 22d OCTOBER, 2016)

BRIEF FACTS

It is alleged that the game was abandoned in the last half 88″ minute of the game when the referee awarded penalty kick to Green Eagles Football Club after the penalty kick was taken and SCDred the vice chairman Mr Kapindula and Derreck of Mufulira Blackpool Football Club entered the field of play with the intention of Contesting and harassing the referee the fans Were agitated with the actions of these two officials started throwing the beer glass bottles in the field of play and Derreck Went on to show the fans where the referees parked the their motor Vehicle which resulted in damaging the window Screen. The referee abandoned the game due to failure by the home team Mufulira Blackpool Football Club to provide adequate Security during the match.

(1) Mufulira Blackpool Football Club are fined K5000 for causing the match to be abandoned and accrued 150 penalty points.

(2) Three points awarded to Green Eagles Football Club on three goals to zero basis.

(3) Mr Kapindula the vice Chairman of the Mufulira Blackpool Football Club fined K5000 and be suspended for period One year for playing a leading role in the abandonment. The Suspension includes a ban in performing any Football Activities and entering any stadium.

(4) (Derreck, an identified spectator) fined K5000 and Suspended for One year. The Suspension includes a ban in performing any football activities and entering any stadium.

(5) The Committee resolved that the damages caused to the vehicle of referee by the supporters must be paid by Mufulira Blackpool Football Club.

(6) Mufulira Blackpool Football Club are fined K5000 for failing to attend the Disciplinary Committee Meeting.

(7) Mufulira Blackpool Football Club further directed to refund Green Eagles the sum of K7000 which their paid to a lodge in Ndola after their forced to flee Mufulira under Police escort when they had already paid to lodge Mufulira for night after the game.

(8) Club fines must be paid within 14 days from the date of the meeting. Personal fines must paid within 3 days from the date of meeting. Out ultimate responsibility for payments fines rests with the club under a principal of joint and several responsibility.

(9) Mufulira Blackpool is encouraged to provide adequate Security, Correct hospitality at all their home games
