Napsa Stars shine brighter than Zesco

Napsa Stars have handed Zesco United their first loss of the season when they beat the Ndola side 1 – 0 at Heroes Stadium.

Collins Sikombe who was came in for U20 midfielder Enock Mwepu who is out on national duty scored the only goal of the match in the 15th minute when he ran on to a poor back pass from David Odhiambo.

The attacking midfielder still had work to do but he showed composure when he faked a shot then picked his spot to score.

Despite Zesco United dominating possession, Napsa created several chances on the break while it was an outstanding performance by Rabson Muchelenganga in the Napsa Stars goal.

Zesco threw everything at their hosts in the final minutes but a good defensive performance saw Napsa hold on.

This was the first win by Napsa over Zesco since 2012.

The win sees Napsa rise to 9 points one behind Zesco United who remain on 10 points.

Green Eagles of Choma also got a big win away against Kabwe Warriors which moved them to third level on points with log leaders Zesco United and second placed Lumwana Radiants who have a game in hand.

The woes at Mufulira Wanderers continue as they we handed a good beating by Real Nakonde.

Nakonde moved to 12th position with the 2 – 0 win which sees the once Mighty Mufulira Wanderers go five games with straight losses.

Big spenders Buildcon are also in relegation zone after they again failed to pick a win when they were beaten 1 – 0 by Nkwazi.

A draw by Power Dynamos see the wallow in 9th position. They were held to a 2 – 2 draw by Forest Rangers who are now in 5th position.

  3. This how a league is supposed to be, no under dogs, surprises all around. Too bad for my team Zega, but its a long way to the end and this time we ain’t giving away the title.
