Napsa, Lusaka Dynamos progress to Barclays cup semis
Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium on sunday played to a double of Barclays cup quarter final encounters. The early kick off saw Napsa Stars taking on league leaders Green Buffaloes.
Napsa Stars started the Match on high with Youremember Banda making Fred Silwimba work to keep his two efforts out within the early stages of the match.
Green Buffaloes started piling pressure and had a few chances of their own with Friday Samu missing what was the best of the first half. Green Buffaloes however finished the first half in with a goal after Rabson Mucheleng’anga failed to deal with Lottie Phiri’s cross that went straight in .
Napsa Stars made a double Substitution with Mangani Phiri and Aaron Kabwe coming for Yourember Banda and Chitoshi Mukuma. The two brought life to the squad as Mangani just needed a few minutes to connect with a beautiful cross but the header went just narrowly wide.
The two were heavily involved with Kabwe missing two chances in the last ten minutes but Mangani made his chance count with seconds to go to force the match to Penalties.
Napsa won 3-2 on post match penalties with Rabson saving two penalties and Jack Chirwa putting his over the bar.
In the second match Super league new comers Kabwe Youth Sports Academy (KYSA) faced Lusaka Dynamos the big spenders.
On paper KYSA was no match for Dynamos but it’s a good thing matches are not won on paper as KYSA made Lusaka Dynamos look average.
Patrick Kasongo, Daniel Chama, Osward Simpamba and Lazarous Muchinga made the core of the team with beautiful play but we’re lacking in the final third where it mattered most.
The youthful team won the hearts of many with their outstanding perfomances but a Marvin Jere strike just before half-time meant this was the end of the road for them.
Zesco United take on ‘Chingalika’ Kitwe United on Wednesday at Nkana Stadium to complete the last four with Zanaco already through after Power Dynamos withdraw from the competition.
