Mutapa happy with the return of senior players from injuries

Forest Rangers coach Perry Mutapa has expressed joy with the return of senior players who were out nursing injuries for over two months within which they lost six consecutive games.

Mutapa believes having the senior players back in the team made his team strong enough to even have the luxury of benching one of their best players Gerald Chisha.

” Am very glad to have players like Patrick, Douglas, Almost everyone back in the team and available for selection. Today we had the luxury of putting Gerald (Chisha) on the bench which means we had a very strong bench. To win a game you need a strong bench. We had no option but to win today’s (Saturday, 18th August) game,” he said.

Mutapa described the win over Kitwe United on Saturday, August 18th as a tough match which was only won when the senior players where introduced towards the end.

“It was a tough match until towards the end when we introduced senior players who controlled the game and played a passing game which was our plan, ” he said.

The U20 national team assistant coach started with three key players in Douglas Muwowo, Kobe Chipeta and Patrick Ilongo on the bench and only came on in the second half while Gerald Chisha another key player was an unused substitute.

Austin Muwowo scored all the three goals first from a direct free-kick then headed home a corner before completing his hatrick five minutes from time with a well taken penalty kick.
