Mutapa extends stay at Forest as a branding disaster steals spotlight
Super league side Forest Rangers on thursday announced that head coach Perry Mutapa and his Assitant Masauso Tembo had renewed their contracts with the Ndola based clubs. The new contracts will see the two stay with the club till 2019.
Despite this being big news amid rumours of Mutapa moving away it was however a poor branding choice of one official that stole the spotlight. One of the officials in the photos posted on the club’s official Facebook page during the signing of the contract decided to put on an European team’s replica.
Whether it was a honest mistake or maybe ignorance on the bad picture such an act paints on the club remains unclear. The executive of the club has praised the two coaches on their dedication to the club.
“Forest Rangers Football Club Head Coach Perry Mutapa and his Assistant Coach Masauso Tembo have renewed their contracts till 2019. The Club executive wishes to thank the the duo for their dedication and professionalism to their task.”
In 2016 Mufulira Blackpool coach rocked up to an official match wearing a Blue Bulls (SA rugby team) jersey an act that sparked a big debate on whether teams know and care about branding.
Mutapa and his technical bench will be looking to improve on eleventh place finish they managed this season come 2018.
