Mugalu in a quit threat after striker boycotted Barclays Cup

Lusaka Dynamos striker Chrispin Mugalu stayed away from the club’s Barclays Cup semi final defeat to Zanaco on Saturday due to an ‘in house problem,’ the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively review.

And according to a Zambianfootball.co.zm report, the Zambian Super League leading scorer together with three other Congolese players at the Lusaka outfit decided to ‘boycot’ after they were advised by their Congolese born South African based agent/manager.

“There are issues between his manager and the club that have been pending for sometime now and needs to be soreted out,” a ZamFoot Crew source close to the player revealed.

The source claims it was for a similar reason that he missed the quarter final clash against Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy a fortnight ago.

 

Without Darcy Mbaka, another Congolese striker at the club, head coach Patrick Phiri was forced to start with unrecognized striker and opted for Fwayo Tembo as a false no.9.

But there also counter claims from club insiders that Mugalu is just a pawn among the knights on the bench.

“Someone on the technical bench is using the boy (Mugalu) to fight for him.

“How does the four boys just leave camp on the eve of cup semi final. After everything the club has done for him this season,” an insider on the Lusaka Dynamos technical bench revealed.

Mugalu has been is set to beat the 20 goal mark this season in the league.

The former Lupopo striker has hit 17 league goals already as ‘The Elite’ are just three points off leaders Green Buffaloes who have 56 points.
