Mugalu hat-trick sinks City as Zesco go two points clear
City of Lusaka have been officially relegated from the Super league after they suffered a humiliating 5-2 loss at the hands of Lusaka Dynamos.
League top scorer Chris Mugalu was in his ruthless best scoring his first ever Zambia Super league hat-trick. Ugandan left back Joseph Ochaya and former sensational Zanaco midfielder Aubrey Funga scored the other two goals for Lusaka Dynamos.
Mugalu has now scored 20 goals this season and only 4 short of Walter Bwalya’s last year tally of 24.
Congolese duo of Kabeya Tshibuingidi and Ishmael Salim Dunga scored City’s two consolation goals.
The win sees Dynamos move to 57 points, one ahead of Nkana.
City remain 18 points behind the last safe position implying that they will not pull out of the relegation zone even if they won all their remaining games.
In the early kickoff, Zesco United failed to take full advantage of Zanaco’s draw against Kabwe Warriors on Saturday as they were also held to a 1 – 1 draw by Nkwazi.
The point however helped the Ndola side open a two point lead at the summit of the league table.
Enock Sabamukuma opened his account for Zesco with a spectacular long drive but his goal was cancelled out by Edward Mwamba in the 74th minute.
Zesco United now have 63 points, while second placed Zanaco are on 61 points.
Green Buffaloes got the full value of amassing maximum points against Power Dynamos with a 3 – 0 as they now stand 3 points from the top on 60 points.
