Morocco bound squad enter camp
Morocco bound Zambia national team have entered the camp. The 20 member squad are expected to travel to Morocco within the course of the week for an eleven-day training Camp.
The team is lodged at Tecla Lodge-Chainama. Chambeshi named a blend of Experience and youth for the camp with the majority coming from the Zambia U23 national team (Dream Team).
The Nkana boss named five European based stars in his squad namely Redbull Salzburg duo of Striker Patson Daka and Midfielder Enock Mwepu, KV Oostende’s Fashion Sakala and Emmanuel Banda as well 2012 AFCON winner Stoppilla Sunzu.
The locally based players summoned include Nkana duo of defender Moses Nyondo and Goalkeeper Allan Chibwe. Others Klings Kangwa of Buildcon, Shemmy Maybe of Zesco United and Nkwazi duo of Kebby Kamanga and Charles Muntanga.
Despite the wide net cast in terms of team selection for the games Tanzania based in form midfield ace, Clatous Chota Chama failed to make the cut.
The Morocco trip is an invitation from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation which will host the Copper Bullets from June 6 – 17 as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries back in 2017.
Morocco and Cameroon are using the friendly games against the 2012 AFCON Champions as preparation for the 2019 Egypt Africa Cup of Nations. Chambeshi, on the other hand, is using the games as part of the preparation for the U23 AFCON qualifier against Congo Brazzaville scheduled for September 5th.
Zambia will play reigning African champions Cameroon on June 9 in Madrid with another match set for June 12 against the Gambia in Casablanca. The team will conclude its assignment with a match against the Herve Renard tutored Morocco on June 16.
