Mbombo opens his Kalampa goal account in friendly match
Congolese talisman Idris Ilunga Mbombo netted as Nkana beat Zimbabwean lower tier side Bulawayo Chiefs 3-1 in an international club friendly match played at Babourfields today at 15:00hrs.
The former Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors hit man is on loan from a Saudi Arabian club.
Fred Tshimenga doubled Nkana’s advantage after an own goal had put the twelve time Super League champions in the lead.
Nkana were scheduled to play 2015 Zimbabwe PSL Champions Chicken Inn but they chickened out at the last minute forcing Nkana to face the lower tier side.
New signings Mustapha Essuman from Buildcon and Richard Ocran from Ghana took part in the friendly match.
Striker Walter Bwalya stayed behind in Kitwe amid a potential move abroad.
The Wusakile based club is in Zimbabwe to prepare for the start of the 2018 super league season as they are on bye in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary stage.
Zambia’s other CAF envoys will be in action this weekend.
Green Buffaloes will be in action on Friday in Egyptian City Port Said.
Buffaloes leave for North Africa on Tuesday.
