Mbesuma returns to fire Highlands out of relegation

Collins Mbesuma eased Highlands Parks relegation worries when he scored the only goal of the game against Chippa United to help them move off the bottom of the log.

Mbesuma was making only his second start for Highlands Park since returning from a four month injury lay off and he made no mistake when he slotted home from the spot in the 65th minute.

The burly striker did enough to trouble the Chippa defense despite looking off the pace  during some portions of play.

He played off the main striker and he continues to look the same intelligent player trying to exploit the spaces and play his fellow striker with some skillful touch-ons.

When he stepped up to take the penalty, the 33 year old went for power as he blasted the ball into the back of the net.

The win sees Highland move to 25 points, one above Chippa United who drop into the relegation zone with two games to play.

Bottom placed Baroka play Golden Arrows and could overtake Highlands if they won their game.

This was Mbesuma’s fourth goal of the season.

His return to full fitness will ease Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda’s worries in the striking department ahead of the national team games.
