Mbabane Swallows in historic qualification as they eliminate Kalengo’s Leopards

Winstone Kalengo’s AC Leopards of Congo were over the weekend eliminated from the CAF Confederations Cup race after a comprehensive 4 – 2 at the hands of Mbabane Swallows in Mbabane to lose 4 – 3 on aggregate as they carried a 1 – 0 lead from home.

Kalengo played in the game and was pivotal as Leopards led 2 – 0 with goals scored in the 13th and 30th minutes.

The Swazi’s however started their come back in the 40th minute and went on to score a second in the 51st minute.

Leopards looked to be well on their way to the group stage up to the 90th minute but there was a final twist to the game as Swallows scored two goals in injury time to win 4 – 2 on the day.

This was a historic moment in Swazi football as Swallows became the first club from Swaziland to qualify to the group stages of a CAF tournament.

  1. The article is not quite on point.its not the best zamfoot has written, anyway its good to hear the mention of Kalengo after such a long time

    • My thoughts as well.. whatever happened to this guy?? He seemed to be the best thing in front of goal for both club and country but for such a short duration.

      • He was only given a chance to play post 30. I knew very well that at that age, we wouldnt have him for long in the national team. But in this brief period, he has served us well. with his game relaint more on power than skill, i doubt that his return to the national team is imminent at this age.

  2. On another note it was good to see Mbesuma on the bench for his club after such a long time. It looks like the injury might finally be done with. Good timing considering we are going into the qualifiers soon. Now its time for him to reclaim his spot in the first team.
