Man of the match Augustine Mulenga sets eyes on topping group

Chipolopolo international Augustine Mulenga says he and his colleagues will now be looking at topping group B after securing passage to the last eight of the 2018 CHAN tournament being hosted in Morocco.

He was speaking after putting up a man of the match performance in Zambia’s 2 – 0 win over Ivory Coast.

“I’m happy for today’s result. We followed the coach’s instructions,” Mulenga said.

“It was not an easy game. We fought and congrats to my colleagues for a good job done.”

“We have achieved what we wanted. Our target is one game at a time and the maximum point from each game. We are looking forward to topping the group,” he said.

The Zanaco winger was at his best scoring two beautiful goals on the day. He has now scored three games in two games.

Zambia has produced a man of the match in each of the two games after Lazarous Kambole was named man of the match in the opening game against Uganda.

The Zesco United striker was also on target and assisted in the 3-1 win over Uganda.

Kambole and Ernest Mbewe have two assists with the speedy winger assisting in both games.

Left back Fackson Kapumbu is the other scorer at CHAN so far.

Indeed, I even said, that if he can work on shouting at the goal, then he will be a complete player. But my man of the match was Ernest eltezza mbewe.he engineered both goals.he was over running the middle feeders of ivory Coast.

  3. Positive thinking says:

That goal though…it will be played and replayed for a long time

  4. Zambian Bufallo says:

    Better for Southern Africa.

  5. GSK11 says:

A Mulenga could have suffered a serious injury i.e a metatarsal fracture after a deliberately vicious tackle in the first half. The Ivoirians realized they had to stop him – he narrowly avoided a fracture – the type which sidelined D Beckham before the 2002 world cup.
Luckily Augustine is built like a tank and soldiered on , finishing strongly ,even scoring a second goal.
Watch this player. He is going places…
