Lwandamina targets Zesco striker Were for Yanga

Former Zesco United George Lwandamina has made Kenyan striker Jesse Were his number one target at his new club in Tanzania.

According to the Tanzanian media, Yanga is set to offer a lucrative offer to the lanky and towering striker.

But according to the Zambianfootball.co.zm sources in Ndola, Zesco United hierarchy would rather sell Were to another club other than Young Africans.

“Zesco felt outdone with Lwandamina with the way he left the club. The club is not happy with both Lwandamina and Yanga,” a ZamFoot Crew source said.

“They felt Yanga should followed the normal channels in approaching their coach and allowed Lwandamina to at least finish the season with them.

It is believed Were has been on the radar of many African clubs including TP Mazembe and Sundowns but with the influence of Lwandamina in East Africa, the Dar El Salaam side is moving fast.

There’s also interest from Israel for the target man.

“If you check on YouTube, a well known agent has uploaded the striker’s clips.

Zesco United saw off competition from Egyptian side Ittihad to lure the former Mathare United striker from Tusker.

For Zesco, though with a slim chance of winning the league, they have to start planing for next season.

Congolese striker Idriss Mbombo, is set to return to Kabwe Warriors as his loan will expire.

  1. Zesco is finished with thsese players leaving. Unless they rectruit more serious players. Zesco should have made an offer for Idriss, but seemed happy with the loan arrangement.

  2. Let dem go so dat we can bring in our own zambian strikers…but we shud learn to sharpen groom our own players unlik depending on imported ones…they wil be disappointed all de time competing with clubs who can giv big offers

  3. Thanks for the services offered by Were & Idriss. Good move by Zesco. they should hold on to their good players and only sale where necessary and with improvement of the squad in mind.

  4. @ James McDonald, don’t you think they should bring in foreign players to challenge our lads? South Africa’s premier league teams e.g Sundowns have done that just & look at how their players have improved?

    * Introduction of foreign players improves conditions of service for our players too & this will just be added motivation!
