Lwandamina: I can’t promise to do wonders against Mazembe
Zesco United Coach George Lwandamina has dissuaded to make pledges over their next opponents TP Mazembe in the 2018-19 Total CAF Champions league first round.
The Zambian Champions Zesco United pummeled their Niger counterparts AS Sonidep 5-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round to book a date with Congolese and African giants TP Mazembe.
Coach Lwandamina said in a post match interview at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola yesterday that he can’t promise to do wonders, adding that they will play TP Mazembe the way they are. He added that he can’t jump the gun.
And Lwandamina maintained that his charges are yet to reach their full potential. He repeated what he said after the 1st leg in Niger that winning this game – the 2nd leg was just a bonus.
“Talking about TP, we will play them the way we are. Because I can’t jump the gun. We will do things systematically, until we reach where we reach. I can’t promise people that I will do wonders, from where?,” Lwandamana said.
“Scientifically it’s not possible, these are human beings we are dealing with. So it has to be systematically, until we reach there. If you win games along the way, kudos to the players.”
“The team is still doing the preseason. We are still doing the preseason. So winning is just a bonus for the players.”
Meanwhile AS Sonidep coach Hassan Barkire heaped praise at Zesco United, saying they were a good side. He wished them well going forward in the competition.
Barkile counseled Zesco United to only fix their defence, saying it was was the only department that was the Achilles heel.
