Lusaka Dynamos will appeal – Simataa
Lusaka Dynamos will appeal the decision by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Disciplinary Committee to strip the team of a point earned against Power Dynamos in a Week One game that ended 3-all for using an ineligible player.
According to a verdict handed down by the Joseph Jalasi committee and availed to Fazfootball, Power Dynamos were handed three points with a 2-0 result after their complaint was upheld.
Power Dynamos lodged a complaint over the eligibility of Lusaka Dynamos player Kadima Tresor Kanyinda whom they alleged did not have a valid International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
The complaint was lodged a day after the match that was played at Heroes Stadium.
But Lusaka Dynamos Chief Executive Officer Simataa Simataa says the club will be lodging an appeal with the FAZ Appeals Committee.
“We will appeal the verdict,” Simataa said.
“Like soccer, the soccer judicial system is a ‘game’ of two halves. First half is the Disciplinary Committee and the second half is the Appeals Committee. A wise team will not dance to a first half lead or give up in a first half loss.”
Power Dynamos vice president Ricky Mamfunda in his complaint filed 24 hours after the match stated that for any foreign player to have authority to play in another association (country), he needs to be cleared by FIFA through the Transfer Matching System.
In defence Lusaka Dynamos argued that the player had been issued a registration card for the 2017 season by FAZ therefore making him eligible to play.
Lusaka Dynamos leapt to sixth position over the weekend after their 2-0 win away to Choma.
