Kundananji hatrick sink Black Queens

Women International Friendly: Zambia 3 – 2 Ghana

A second half hattrick from Racheal Kundananji helped the Zambia Womens national football team to a 3-2 home win over Ghana in a friendly match played at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.

It was a competitive encounter as the two teams shape up for the Total Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations, Ghana 2018 and the West Africans led at half time from two first half goals from Portia Boakye and Elizabeth Addo.

Kundananji saved the day for Zambia with goals in the 65th, 75th and 87th minutes. It was a morale boosting win for the Bruce Mwape coached side against Africa’s second ranked team. Zambia is ranked 15th in Africa and 116th in the World.

The Zambian lasses will now shift camp to Ivory Coast to acclimatize in West Africa before the tournament kicks off.

The Ghana tournament kicks off on 17th November and Zambia has been drawn in Group B together with Africa’s top ranked side Nigeria, Southern African powerhouse South Africa who are ranked 4th in Africa and 18th ranked Kenya.

Zambia play Kenya in their opener on 18th November, before engaging Nigeria on 21st November and they wind up the group games with a game against perennial rivals South Africa on 24th November.
