Kopa Queens goalkeeper ruled out of tourney
Zambia Women national football team goalkeeper Catherine Musonda has been ruled out the CAF Womens African Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana.
The Kopa Queens Team Doctor Faith Chibeza Mwansa said the second choice goalkeeper will miss out due to injury.
Dr Chibeza-Mwansa, who is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at UTH also revealed that midfielder Helen Chanda will be fit for the tournament after he picked up a knock in a friendly against Cameroon.
“As at now we have one player our second choice goalkeeper Catherine Musonda, She was injured in the friendly against Cameroon,” Dr Chibeza said
“She was stepped over around the ankle area so she sustained a fracture, It was in displaced so we managed it with a POP and she will be out for a good three months.
“The other one is one of our midfielders Helen Chanda who has a knock around the ankle area but she will be okay for the tournament we are giving her some time to rest, ”
Meanwhile, the KoPa Queens arrived in Ghana yesterday after a successful training camp in the Ivory Coast.
Bruce Mwape’s side opens its Africa Women’s Cup of Nations account against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
