Newly appointed Chipolopolo Boys assistant coach Irfin Kawri was part of Saturday double training session at Nkoloma Stadium.
Kawri who arrived in the country on Thursday afternoon was hands on as he took the CHAN Squad through their paces.
The morning session was more of ball work while the one in the afternoon involved a bit of physicals.
With Charles Zulu and Winstone Kalengo out of the reckoning 25 players were part of today’s training including goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga and veteran striker James Chamanga.
The team will return to the pitch on Monday after a day off on Sunday.
Zambia is in the same group with Mali, Uganda and neighbours Zimbabwe.
The other players who are part of the CHAN team are:
Goalkeepers: Toaster Nsabata, Racha Kola, Jacob Banda
Defenders: Christopher Munthali, Solomon Sakala, Boyd Mkandawire, Buchizya Mfune, Donashano Malama, George Chilufya, Adrian Chama, Dauti Musekwa.
Midfielders: Salulani Phiri, Benson Sakala, Jack Chirwa, Mwape Mwelwa, Spencer Sautu, Clatous Chama, Isaac Chansa, Mwila Phiri
Strikers: Conlyde Luchanga, Patson Daka, Adamson Mulao, Christopher Katongo
Strikers are all not sharp. We are going nowhere at this tournament. Chris play well in mid field position.
Am worried abt the striking force….don’t we have other strikers in our country?…. Can’t luka lungu fair well in absence of kalengo….
what is patson daka doing there useless selection. Moses phiri is far much better than most of those strikers.
Welcome on board coach!
Zambia need to play a friendly match with teams like nigeria, cameroon to see if the team is ready or not.As things stand these preparations are not adequately
We have in this country, much better strikers than Patson Daka and katongo. I thought the absence of Arrows players wud open the way for Saith Sakala, Walter Bwalya,Situmbeko etc but alas Lwandamina brings a player of his dreams Patson, a chap who couldn’t make the grade at Under23…maybe living this boy out led to Simukonda losing the coaching position at Under23?!
Walter bwalya and Jimmy is needed in the team otherwise we are going no where with that kind of strikers mwilatulwalika amabp have to be serious with the selection of the team kuwaya wayafye
Toaster ??
Surely, Luka Lungu can help us in absence of Kalengo.
And James Chamanga which role is he playing?
Patson the useless power beachwomer makes the cut and Luke who plays and scores for the same team does not not even make the provisional team so sad, so pathetic what is it that the national team selectors see in this useless player that his coaches do not at club level the stupid lad cost us two valuable points from pathetic G B. moreover the lad was scoreless the entire season, strange may the good Lord have mess on both kalu and lee kawanu.
Those strikers that are on that list are all up coming except for one katongo who has lost some energies, call moses phiri from zanaco drop patson daka and bring in another striker not patson and luchanga, those are upcoming and we don’t expect a lot from them
CHAN is where lwandamina should have been given a chance to pick his own team. Young, upcoming and performing players should have been a chance. It is not only about winning the cup but player development and exposure. This was the time to give a chance to other players at positions like right and left back as well as the defensive midfield. But here we go again and use the tournament as a trading market. We shall never learn, God save us please
Lwandamina is the one with no morals. Why accept a job if you know you won’t be directly in charge?
What is the background of this assistant coach. When HR appointed we were informed of his back ground, but I have not read anything about this dude or maybe I have missed something??? I have nothing against the new kid on the block but as a fan I am curious to know something about his football background
Thanks FAX for the info in advance
Last time I read about him, I learnt that he had a Degree in Sports Science. He trained for zambia under 20 with the likes of Noah Chivuta, wh8m he says he is always inmtouch with. He says he is good at analysing the opposition blah blah blah. He has some drop of Zambian blood.
Katebe Aron and Kapumbu would have been included in that squad to bring competition at the back.Moses phiri,Luka Lungu,Lazarus Kambole and Chipungu for Half baked Luchanga,Daka and Mulawo.Lwandamina will be exposed looking at the team he will be taking to that tournament.amapulanga yeka yeka sure !
@Crespo, good observation and we missing John and Mwebantu.
HAPPY new year guys!! I’m happy coz you all have said a lot of sense on this topic,God bless u all.
The list of strikers is very demotivating.Surely are they trying to tell that there are no better strikers than Patson.
I’m sure Moses Phiri has committed an unpardonable sin against FAZ. The top 4 strikers must have an automatic inclusion into the provisional squad for assesment and Moses Phiri being second to Kalengo should not be missing in this squad. Whether FAZ likes it or not, Moses is a great striker. Patson Daka doesn’t play for Power because Luka Lungu and Martin Phiri are better than him. Surprisingly Patson has made the cut while Luka Lungu and Martin Phiri are Missing. Wonders shall never end.
Moses phiri, luka lungu,Julius situmbiko nd Kennedy mudenda should be part of this Team.
I see alot of players from Zesco Utd , is Lwandamina receiving favours from them?. Maybe Moses Phiri is paying a huge price for scoring high against Lwandamina’s team when Zanaco butchered Zesco 4-0 last season. I wish Lwandamina and his Technical bench are reading our comments, the fans are the best analysers for the game of football than the coaches because we see it all.
Qualifying or wining Chan is not an archivment we should have even sent the U17 in readiness for U20 which is just around the corner
why becoz faz can’t organise friendly matches
so we take Chan as friendly and give the boys much needed exposure n experience
we lose its fine we are used but experience is archiveed
we win yes we would have won a friendly tornament
