Former Chipolopolo striker James Chamanga wasted no time in laying down his prospects for the 2017 Chinese Super League when he netted in the first goal of the season when his club Liaoning Whowin drew 1 – 1 away against Guizho Zicheng.
The ever green veteran striker was named in the starting XI of the very first game of the season and he put his side ahead in the 14th minute from the spot.
The hosts then leveled matters in the 54th minute when they were also awarded a penalty.
The 37 year old former National Assembly striker finished the last season second on the top scorers chart on 14 goals in a league that boasts of renowned strikers who have trekked to the east from Europe.
Liaoning finished the league in 11th position with Chamanga playing 28 times out of the 30 league games.
Jacob Mulenga another former Chipolopolo striker also plays in Chinese league.
Way to go James! Never, say die!
Quick question, will Fashion Sakala make it to the world cup since he will be 20 yrs old by then? He turns 20 on 14th March. Anyone know the rules if its just strickly under 20 yrs. Thanks.
I am thinking one has to be under 20, that will be a blow not to have him, I love the way he creates chances and score. plus World cup would be a good exposure for him. Hopefully the coaches have a plan B should he not be eligible to play.
Its 20 yrs and below. Its like politics 50 +1, its just risky to have 20 + 1month.
Wait a minute…. 20 yrs + 4 months some country will contest.
With Kananga’s record, FAZ can’t win. Zambia will be disqualified AGAIN!
Abena Kalu would have found a technical clause on it.
Fashion as long as he is still under 21 he will play for under 20 so in this case he qualifies
20 years + 3 months is older than a 20 year old. So its too sad that Fashionable Sakala is eligible. But he can use this moment to send message at his new club Spartak Moscow.
Lets stop, he still young to handle our analysis.
I hope Kamanga and Company do their homework and make sure we are good to use him at the world cup. Not having him would be a blow.
Let the FAZ cast the net wide for zambian players who play abroad just like west african countries does… We a Zambian player who plays in England and is jst 19 years old defender : Frankie Chisenga Musonda let’s bring this players home..
Fashion will play the rules state any player born after 1st January 1997 is eligible.
Lets not take chances. If FAshion doesn’t qualify, then he doesn’t. Those other Mbeba boys Patson Daka and Emmanuel Banda will lead the onslaught. No mwaiche Musonda. These are mean Machines. Where were these kids all along? Since they are all still U20,it means that they have been eligible since this competition was mooted. So why were previous coached not using them?
The core of these players were in the previous under20 and under17 team
He will play. any player who starts the tournament as U20 qualify s to play all subsequent games in that tournament calendar.
Fashion qualifies for U-20 WC. what a game once again. Keep it up coach and all team. All the best.
I have a question to ask. Is James one of the highest payed players in the Chinese league? He has been very consistent in that league, you know?
No Kuku James is in fact one of the lower earners….despite his consistency. ….The guys who earn the big bucks are the names poached from the big leagues and who have commercial value from image rights and shirt sales
It is simple rule by FIFA. Any player born form 1st Jan 1997 qualifies to be in Korea this year. I jst want to ask Ben Chamb to rope in a few more quality players-kusokela team- as we head to Korea. Competion will stiff. Let’s bring more genuine talent.
Does this Sakala boy have another first name? I mean imagine going into a World Cup with a name like fashion. I think my friend from Ecuador once told me many years ago how the Afro – Ecuadoreans from the pacific coast…named their children all sorts of names. The goverment even had to step in. When your child’s name is Coca-cola, jeep, ….there is a problem. Does he have an middle name or perhaps African name….
