Italian coach still in-charge at City despite the club advertising head coach job
City of Lusaka’s Italian coach Roberto Landi is still in-charge at Vodafone Woodlands Stadium and has not been fired, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
And the ZamFoot understands ‘two unnamed promoted clubs have approached’ the 1964 Zambian Champions for a possible takeover but the Chilenje based outfit hasn’t ‘responded or given it a thought atleast for now.’
“Yes, two unnamed promoted sides have approached us so that we buy their slots as they do not have money to compete in the Super league but we have not responded or given it a thought for now,” a ZamFoot insider said on Monday.
Despite just winning three games and losing 24 from the 33 games played, the City Ya Moto hierarchy want to finish the season on a high.
“Our focus is to finish the remaining five games on a good note. In fact we have already started preparing for Division One football next season.
With that in mind, the Club released a statement on Monday morning that they are looking for a head coach.
“City of Lusaka, one of the oldest football clubs in Zambia is looking for two dynamic, highly motivated, and reliably persons to urgently take up positions of head coach and team manager,” read part of the statement.
But that statement did not tackle the future of the Italian coaches who have failed to keep the club in the top flight and that led to speculation of Landi and his assistants.
“We have not fired him. He will complete the season.
Landi’s contract runs upto December 2, 2017 with the league winding up on November 22.
This Wednesday, City of Lusaka host Kitwe giants Power Dynamos and they will be hoping for a win.
Together with Real Nakonde, they have already been demoted and could be joined by Konkola Blades while Nchanga Rangers, Kabwe Warriors and Mufulira Wanderers might take the battle to stay up to the wire.
