GUEST STORY :U17 WOMEN COACH RELISHES COSAFA CHALLENGE
Zambia under-17 women team coach Kangwa Kaluba says his team will try to replicate the good run at the Cosafa championship by other Zambian teams in 2019.
Speaking after his side’s morning training session at Barca Academy, Kaluba said the girls were preparing well for the tournament that kicks-off in Mauritius on September 20.
“The preparations are going on very well. The girls are getting adapted on how we want them to play and how we want them to approach each and every game which comes,” Kaluba said.
Kaluba said that although results were very important he would not forget that the junior teams should be more concerned about development.
“What is important is that we have to understand that the under-17 is a developmental process. Whatever the outcome is going to be, we have to appreciate the fact that we have got a group of young girls that is going to represent us well,” he said.
“Our key focus is on the four year project that we have developed with the technical directorate. We are focusing on playing the World Cup with these girls in 2024.”
Zambia will open its campaign at the inaugural Cosafa Under-17 women championship with game against invitational side Uganda before facing Comoros on September 22 with the final group match two days later.
