Fwayo, Billy Mutale’s international career could be over

Power Dynamos duo Fwayo Tembo and Billy Mutale’s international career could be over, the ZamFoot Crew understands.

This is after under pressure Chipolopolo Boys coach Wedson ‘Wada Wada’ Nyirenda has continued to ignore them for international engagements.

Together with Clatus Chota Chama, the duo were omitted from the Cosafa Squad which was beaten 3-1 to Zimbabwe in the final last Sunday.

While Chama has been recalled, Fwayo and Mutale are not part of the CHAN Squad which will face Swaziland in a two legged qualifier starting with this weekend’s first leg.

“For Chama, Wada didn’t like what he saw in training from the boy. But seems like the coach is now trying to understand international football and accomodate big egos like  Chama hence the change of stance on the boy,” a ZamFoot Crew’s Chipolopolo Camp insider revealed.

“But for Fwayo and Billy, those are different cases and it might take a little  bit of time before they are recalled.

It is believed prior to the friendly match against South Africa, Billy was unreachable after switching off his phone.

Power Dynamos fans are excited about the prospect partnership of Billy Mutale and Isaac Shamujompa at Arthur Davies Stadium

And that upset and left scars with Nyirenda.

Maybe a private call from the Power Dynamos’ first choice centre back might help patch up the wounds with the Chipolopolo coach.

As for Fwayo, it is a different scenario as midfield cum winger who is dragging the Kitwe giants to title challenge with his goals and assists is understood to have told Nyirenda that he wasn’t ready to feature against Bafana Bafana.

“I think it was question of Fwayo trying to be treated like the foreign based players. You know, there was whispers inside Chipolopolo camp most pros (foreign based players) didn’t want to play that friendly against South Africa.

“And Fwayo being the way he is, he followed suit and had an audience with the coach to excuse him but unfortunately that was taken lightly from the technical bench,” adds the source.

The South Africa friendly match came 48 hours after the 1-0 defeat to Mozambique in the African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Is Fwayo’s international career over?

From the Nyirenda’s perspective it seems so but Fwayo is yet to state so.

Fwayo still has unfinished business on the international scene as he is yet to feature at any major tournament.

Considered as arguably one of thee most talented players of his generation, Fwayo is haunted by that.

  1. This is nonsense wada should release that his stay coach is dependent on these players that he cannot manage. He should know how to manage them, so that they give him results to prolong his stay at football house

  2. Nyrienda needs to his house in order. Things are falling apart.

Wedson can not afford to shun players. It is up to his leadership now, his ability to get what he needs out key players. He can’t just say this player doesn’t have it he is out. He also left out midfeild pilar Sinkala.

He is failing and these are basics of communication and relationships.

  3. Wada Wada should stop School boy behaviour! CHAN is not a small competition. He should stop ignoring key players like FWAYO, Nyirenda should know that FWAYO is one of the best THREE players Zambia has at the moment. Wada Wada stop selfishness and ignoring Players like Triple “CCC ” FWAYO, P. ZULU that LUSAKA DYNAMOS player. Wada should remember that this attitude leads to George CHICKEN Luwandamina’s failure to manage CHIPOLOPOLO because of poor selection and lost a lot of key games! He too should quit than to keep on losing games because of his selfish motives towards players. What has he achieved so far for Zambia? Nothing…. Let him recall those guys for the CHAN matches. This Nyirenda should behave like a Professional and matured Coach! We don’t want you if you continue to have grudges with players.

  4. So the coach is trying to handle big egos? What did he expect? That is even harder for a Zambian born coach to do.

If Fwayo had legitimate reasons for his being excused then this should be a none issue. Sounds like Wadda is not ready for this job at all. Guys like Kwesi Appiah of Ghana is dealing with guys from the Premier League and Serie A, and we have a coach who cant deal with a player from Lusaka Dynamos…smdh!!!!

  5. So this guy is emotionally childish. You can’t afford to ignore Fwayo iwee Wada. Grow up , your survival in that job is defendant on players like Fwayo, Cletus etc.

  6. Excuse me! don’t compare WADA to Jaokim Low and Hugo Broos! One can understand Hugo Broos because he’s building the team whilst mixing with new and experience talented players and he managed to win the Prestige AFCON trophy. If you watched the final it was INKURU who scored the equalizing goal for Cameron & is the oldest players. This WADA should respect our views and we don’t want to see any lose? Let’s not ignore the facts; FWAYO is very
