South Africa’s Premier Soccer league (PSL) side Platinum Stars have announced, with immediate effect the selling of the club and transfer of ownership to the new owners due to financial constraints.
The now former Royal Bafokeng National’s owned club officially announced in a press statement that the club was sold. However it did not indicate who are the new owners.
The decision was triggered by the ever-increasing social-economic challenges that has made it difficult to keep Dikwena afloat and competitive in the top flight.
“It’ is with mixed feelings that we announce the selling and transfer of ownership of Platinum FC with immediate effect,” reads the statement.
“Due to the ever-increasing social-economic challenges keeping the club afloat and competitive has not been easy. To ensure that the legacy of the club continues, we decided to give an opportunity to new owners with different expertise, new ideas and energy to take the club forward.”
Platinum Stars are the paymasters and home to Zambian International Brian Mwila who is currently in the country. He is reported to have left the club without official leave.
Meanwhile, the financial constraints has affected the performance of the team in the 2018-19 PSL season as they are hovering the relegation zone–right at the bottom of the log.
Players need to have full information of the teams they wish to sign for. What is the name of the agent handling Mwila’s transfer affairs? Shortly Mwila if not careful will disappear from the zambia soccer scene.
