FAZ Women’s League: Buffaloes and Indeni continue their dominance
Green Buffaloes Women Football Club concluded the first round of the 2019 Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) Lusaka Región with a hard fought 1-nil win over Yasa Queens in an exciting and scintillating encounter that was played at Yasa Ground.
Anita Mulenga’s long range first half free kick which ended at the back of the net after Anna Mukumbuta failed to handle it was the difference in the match. The two sides had an equal share of chances with the home team dominating play especially in the first half but they were not convincing in the final third and the likes of Christine Nyirongo and Florence Kasonde Upfront barely troubled Hazel Nali in goal for the soldiers, Her defence was also alert with the towering Agnes Musesa, Sharon Chileshe Martha Tembo including the goal scorer, Mulenga making sure they provided the much needed cover at the back.
Rechel Nachula and Ethel Chama who had a great game with their usual pace and style of play were highly policed by a well-organized Patricia Lampi led defence alongside Pezo Kakandu and the Energetic Nasilele gave absolutely no chance for the Zambia Army Sponsored side.
The battle was in the middle of the park with the home team deploying Catherine, A very solid defensive midfielder alongside Ruth Ngambi, Thanda Onneil who had a quiet game as well as Natasha Mulenga who returned to the team coming from an injury but were up against the Experienced Judith Zulu Working Hand-In-Hand with the Captain of the side Joana Benaya commanding the park and made sure her team cut out the supply line not forgetting the enterprising Lweendo Chisamu who rose to the occasion In the second half and was a thorn in the Yasa defence with her quick feet dribbling and runs.
Despite it being an open game, Both sides failed to utilise their chances. Buffaloes introduced the likes of Maylan Mulenga And Mary Mwakapila who also had some chances to bury the game but failed to convert their chances. Annie’s introduction brought in some more life and power to the home team who could have equalised in the dying minutes of the game after piling some pressure which resulted in a free kick just on the D-Zone outside the 18 – Yard Box but the resulted free kick hit the human traffic and Buffaloes cleared their line to make sure they go back to Arakan with the much needed and hard fought 3 Points to continue commanding the log standing and moved to 39 Points, 13 above Yasa who remained on 26 Points.
Elsewhere within the Capital City Luyando Foundation redeemed themselves after a string of poor results by recording a 1nil victory over Pamalat in a game that was played at Kanyama Ground. A goal was enough for the Coach Mwape drilled side.
At Chibolya Ground, Nkwazi Queens registered a Walk Over win after Chiparamba Breakthrough Sports Academy who failed to pitch up.
Green Eagles were scheduled to Host Kafue Cranes in Makeni While Olympic Flying Queens had a date With Lusaka Queens but both matches were moved to Wednesday May 22, 2019 as most players were engaged in the Coca Cola School Games in Chongwe So the matches could not be played.
Moving On to some selected Results around the Country, well to start with a Avel Chitundu Goal was enough for the Zega Mambo Girls to collect 3 Points after beating Miracle Rangers 1-0.
Indeni Roses continued with their FAZ Copperbelt Region Dorminance as they were too strong for Evergreen silencing them 9 Goals to Nil with the Roses finding the back of the net through a Esther who netted four goals, National team Captain Misozi Zulu had a Hatrick, Mupeta and Noria Sosala had a goal each.
