FAZ Veep mourns Livingstone official
LIVINGSTONE — Football Association of Zambia(FAZ)Vice-President Rix Mwemba, on Monday and Tuesday joined the Livingstone football fraternity in mourning the death of Napsa Linda FC Secretary Belden Mwelwa.
Mwelwa, 32, died on Saturday in hospital after succumbing to a kidney illness, according to the information obtained from the mouthpiece of the FAZ Division Three side by ZamFoot.
Mr Mwemba on Monday visited the funeral house in Linda Compound and rendered financial aid to the bereaved family.
And today, the FAZ Veep – flanked by Napsa Linda Chairman arrived at Linda Kingdom hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses around 08 : 00 hrs and later joined mourners to the burial site at Nakatindi Cemetery.
In a speech at the burial site, Mr Mweemba conveyed condolences messages from the FAZ President Andrew Kamanga to the bereaved family and the Livingstone football fraternity.
He described the late Mwelwa as someone who has run a good race and urged the FAZ Division Three side to take cue from that going forth.
“It is really a sad moment for the Football Association of Zambia. I bring to you massages of condolences from the FAZ President Mr Andrew Kamanga who should have been here with us but was committed,” he said.
“We are really taken back by the death of Belden. He was a pillar in the football administration circles.
“It’s a loss to the entire football fraternity. However a word of encouragement to the bereaved family, that all is not over.
“Belden has left a baton. It’s like a relay, his part is done. Like the Apostle Paul said i have run a good race. He run a good race and we thank him for all what he did.
“But to us now who are remaining, we should take up the baton and continue to move forward.”
The FAZ Vice President urged Napsa Linda top hierarchy to continue from where the late Mwelwa left so that the team can one day play in the Super league and represent the people of Livingstone and the entire country of Zambia.
Furthermore, Mwemba said that the entire FAZ Secretariat, Executive Committee and all soccer loving people from Lusaka are grieved by the death of the late Belden Mwelwa.
