FAZ finally decides to bring World Cup qualifier to Heroes Stadium

Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier between Zambia and Algeria will be played at Heroes Stadium next month. This will be first Heroes will host a qualifier.

And the CHAN qualifier 2nd leg between Zambia and South Africa will be play at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a fortnight.

Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium has been hosting both the African and World Cup qualifier while Heroes Stadium has been subjected to low grade international friendly matches and CHAN qualifiers.

With Wedson Nyirenda set to summon a host of the members of the Dream Team which won the African Under-20 Championship at Heroes Stadium, it will be a familiar environment for them.

While the likes of Kennedy Mweene, Stopilla Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba and Chisamba Lungu have used the Stadium for training sessions, they only played their against Gabon in a friendly.

  1. Yeah it was disappointing to see Levy Mwanawasa stadium empty the last few matches and it time to move the game to Lusaka. For years Ndola people were crying about having the games in Ndola when we were using independence stadium yet after moving the games to Ndola, they don’t show up in numbers and most fans travelled from Lusaka anyways, so yeah I like this idea of moving back to LSK.

  2. Let him consider the u20 in the senior team becoz some of the senior players are no longer the same e.g Mbesuma, kalengo ,kalaba and also Mweene. Age has hammered them. Mubili wabalekelezya.

  3. Partson Daka, fashion sakala, enock mwepu,Emmanuel banda these can play in the senior team without any problem. Then he must consider nsabata in btn the poles. Mweene no game time at sundown. Lubambo shud be called as well.
