Expert View – Coaches paying for administrative blunders

The MTN/FAZ Super League will be entering its sixth week of action this weekend and we have already seen two coaches being fired.

Football is a business of results and once you are not performing according to the expections of the management of thhe club and fans.

ARE COACHES REALLY TO BLAME
In as much as coaches at times need to pay the price for failing to deliver these days it seems coaches are being used as scapegoats for administrative failure.

Arena Guilglemo – The Italian was sacked after three matches which buildcon lost in a row. The matches were against new comers National Assembly , Defending champions Zesco United and Lumwana Radiants.

A serious postmortem of the matches will show that they were tricky fixtures despite Buildcon being a big team.Lumwana is one of the toughest places to visit in Zambia, Zesco United is not an easy team to beat which only leaves National Assembly as the team he could havee beaten but if you watched the games they lost to Power Dynamos and Nkana you can understand how they managed to beat Team Kopala.

Buildcon on Tuesday unveiled Tenant Chembo as the new head coach, So if he losses three games in row he will also be fired?, Then how many coaches will be at the helm of team Kopala for just this one season?.

The biggest mistake Buildcon made was to break their back bone which was Lamine Moro, Mustapha Essuman and Maisha Chavda. They released 19 players and bought 19 new ones.

Football is a tricky sport because you can have all the stars in the world and lose to a team with just average players. Co-ordination and team work plus cohesion takes time and it is what wins you games.

Players need to understand eash other and learn how to play alongside each other. To make matters worse the players were bought by management not the coach.

Linos Makwaza – Napsa Stars sidelined Linos Makwaza, Dabwitso Nkhoma and Harry Milanzi after a string of poor results but was it all their fault?. At the start of the season Napsa Stars lost all their key players and management expected the technical bench to perform like last season with quantity and not quality?.

Coaches are being forced to take the blame for mistakes being made by management in most cases even the case of Tenant Chilumba last season at Napsa Stars . Coaches are not allowed to buy the players they want but are just forced to work with who they are given hence its tricky to hit the ground running with such a set-up.

Coaches need time to roll out their plans and get the required results. Teams need to be a bit patient though the fans will always want their team to win week in week out.

  1. Sometimes we might say or ask a question ” Are coaches being punished unfairly ?” I think after three league matches it’s not correct. We all understand that Football is a business of results and once you are not performing according to the expections of the management of the club and fans.
FOOTBALL âš½ IS A BUSINESS OF RESULTS ; NON PERFORMANCE FIRED.

    • It also requires logic and brains, you can not plant maise and expect to harvest grapes! What you put in is what you get out I totally agree with the Zamfoot analysis only a pinhead will be shallow enough not grasp understand the logic.

  2. Yaba ba Buildcon. So these people bought a totally new team and expected immediate results? How ridiculous is that.

  3. Buildcon sold 19players, changed management. Elo they were expecting to win ? immediately. Shame!
