EPIC FINISH TO THE ZSL – NOTHING IS CLEAR YET!!
Another epic finish just like the other season , the Super League title play off candidates will be decided on the final day of the season.
Surprisingly, Kabwe Warriors holds the advantage over the rest and know that if they manage to beat Red Arrows, they will be the team to play Green Eagles in a one off play off to decide the league title for the transitional season. Finally the Unbeaten run is showing results.
What is interesting for now is to have the four teams that will represent the country into CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively. Only one confirmed as we head to the last match day.
In the recent three weeks, ZESCO United spent the season looking like it was their title to lose but now need to beat Kitwe United at home and hope that Kabwe Warriors drops points against Red Arrows to win the stream and qualify to the Champions League.
There are also a number of teams that will be interested to monitor what will be happening in Kabwe.
ZANACO who are third on 30 points have a responsibility of beating Prison Leopards to qualify for CAF slot. Sensational are aware they have to leapfrog ZESCO United with goals to have a realistic chance should both teams win their games at home. ZANACO will qualify if there is a draw in Kabwe and they win comfortably at home.
Red Arrows are not outsiders too and they will qualify with a win in Kabwe but that will mean they have to outscore both ZESCO United and ZANACO should the two Z teams win their games.
Lusaka Dynamos who threw themselves in the equation with a win against ZESCO United just opened up the stream wide. But a huge set back just hit then with FIFA docking another three points to leave then on 27 points and out from the race. They have appealed and should relax but the next game seriously. They are away to Nakambala Leopards and their duty is simple, beat Nakambala with a cricket scoreline and wait what hapoenes elsewhere. It looks pretty tough for the elite as Nakambala Leopards is tough at home and am not seeing them allowing more than three goals without a reply.
In Stream B , Green Eagles win the stream and mathematically, Nkwazi still have s chance but it has a lot to do with what Buildcon does in Kitwe against Power Dynamos. A draw is enough for Buildcon though they would end up on the same points (31) with Nkwazi if the Policemen win in Lumwana but the the Team Kopala have a better goal difference. Nkwazi will qualify for CAF should they beat Lumwana Radiants and Power Dynamos beat Buildcon.
All that remains for Power Dynamos, Forest Rangers and Nkana is to try and end their respective tenures on a high note.
In Stream A the relegation battle is not decided for the three teams at the bottom in Mufulura Wanderers , Prison Leopards and Kitwe United . All with the chance of going down on the last day.
Mufulira Wanderers will survive with a victory against Green Buffaloes A draw may also be enough if Prison Leopards drop points against ZANACO in Lusaka . Kitwe United will survive only if they beat ZESCO United and Mufulira Wanderers lose to Green Buffaloes .
There is also a scenario of both Prison Leopards and Kitwe United being relegated if the Disciplinary Committee has decided to award Mufulira Wanderers three points in a game they played against Prison Leopards were Leopards are alleged believed to have used a Mufulira Wanderers player. We await confirmation.
In stream B, MUZA is relegated and Circuit City will join MUZA if Lumwana Radiants manages a draw at home against Nkwazi. Circuit will only survive with a victory against Nkana at home while Nkwazi beats Lumwana Radiants away.
With just eleven games remaining in this season, there’s one last chance to enjoy a profitable weekend in the Super League.
That game in Kabwe pitting Warriors and Arrows is the climax.
Enjoy the games
