Disappointed Mweene says he wont retire as he takes positives from tournament

Chipolopolo goalie Kennedy Mweene says he will not retire yet from the national team as he still has a lot to offer.

Speaking in a post-match media conference after seeing his team unceremoniously exit the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Mweene said he still has the energy to carry on.

“I am only 30, unless my legs can’t take it anymore, otherwise I still have the energy,” Mweene said

“I am still available for the national team anytime, any day, to contribute to my country,” he added.

Mweene further stated that he was very disappointed with the early exist but said he drew a lot of positives from the tournament.

“I am very disappointed as a player by not going to quarter final.”

“At the same time we have to look at it in a positive way. When u look at our team, only 8 of us are more experienced the rest are just up-coming players, we have youngsters. “

“Us who are experienced just have to support the young ones. In one or two years, they will be different players.”

Mweene attributed his team’s failure to progress to the knockout stage on failure by the team to take scoring chances created.

“We were lacking upfront, we needed to bury the chances when we had them, but it’s good experience for the young ones, I am sure in the next few years they will utilise what they have learnt.” he added.

Mweene flanked coach Honour Janza at the post match press meeting instead of captain Rainford Kalaba.

Zambia were booted out of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after only amassing two points from a possible nine in the group stage.

  1. Mweene should not retire, its not his fault, as a matter of fact he is still the best goalie we have not bene Toaster Nsabata. Mweene can go on for another 6 years, he’s that good.

  2. First and foremost a lot of you are just talking a lot without really providing any meaningful data. All of us knew Janza had selected a weak team. Those who say tired legs like Chris would have done better are also dreaming. Chris, Joseph musonda, isaac chansa all these names you are calling are history stop mentioning them they are finished. Zambia got it all wrong when they left out performing players like Jacob mulenga, Rodgers kola. Further Janza did not select competent midfielders. He also did not have enough cover in defence. Jackson mwanza and ngoma were surface to requirements. You do not build a new team at afcon why not let ngoma play u-20 why bring him to afcon? What we have to do now is hire a new coach. Start afresh and build our team around the upcoming u-17 and u-20. We shall rise again with these two age groups looking promising.

    • Well said John though you left out one very important point…when Chris Katongo played he was a leader of the team…Kalaba is the most skilled player we have but the boy cannot lead, there were lots of arguments in all the games we played, Kalaba didn’t quiet his team-futhermore, the boy is too emotional-throwing the captain’s band after the Tunisia game, falling to appear after last night’s game…they should give the band back to Mweene who seemed more able to organise our weak defence than his captain…

  3. On another note Janza did fail the nation by selecting a weak team but let’s be fair cape verde and zambia were never going to qualify with such horrendous weather conditions. That match should have been stopped. Not even Lionel Messi can play on such a pitch. The second half should have been delayed and zambia was really unfortunate. Sometimes winning afcon is about luck and Tunisia and drc were lucky to play in better weather conditions.

    • John you say all sorts of things, it differs from minute to the next. To me reading your thoughts i think you pluck theories out thin air. No consistency in your views safe for faith in Mayuka.

The whether was bad it cleared and even pitch drained. Zambia had time to play and win the match but they didnt. Dont make excuses of the weather because then you make scapegoats. Maybe you are used to making scapegoats.

See how not just any coach can coach Zambia?

  4. Janza should never have taken Zambia to Afcon, we sacked Bonetti for less and Janza should have been replaced. Maybe FAZ even though they now enjoy a cozy relationship with the ministry such that they can just blame them for poor travel arrangements everytime and the ministry in Kambwili dont even say anything, maybe they couldnt raise the money to pay a coach or maybe FAZ just couldnt be bothered to hire. Kalu said no Zambian is ready to coach Zambia and that is right, that was his conviction but somehow he came with Janza deserves a chance..? Maybe Janza deserved a favor from Kalu but a chance at taking the team Afcon no, not after qualifiers. Dont anybody come here say in response to me that Janza replaced old legs with new ones, at the start Janza could have picked anyone and loook at who he was playing. Only after pressure from fans did he bring a coherent team in the form of young players, the right ones. Anyway i return to Kalu who lets the ministry arrange travel and lets anyone coach the team, things have changed and ask the question has Kalu gone soft? Maybe he has passed his best a president?

Before Janza we had problems and now changes have been made and we still have problems, i dont think from the changes that the first set of problems were understood and dealt with properly so now we have problems on top of problems. It should not be the case!!! I worry now that nobody even understands these sets of problems. We did not need to send the rag tag team we sent to Afcon, we could have sent a highly effective fighting force that would have pushed in the semi final but no. Those young players would have learned more than they learned bashing themselves against a wall. Anyway i worry, because i dont see things getting better at this rate, things will get even worse if this mess is not unravelled and controlled.

Allot of people before Afcon were trying/pretending to be positive because its nice to be positive but things are bad truth be told.

Mweene is right here, take the positives, the young players did get some experience but dont allow ourselves to settle for such crumbs.

  5. Hard luck to the Chipolopolo Boys. Inasmuch as the weather played it’s part in disturbing the game plan and tactics, I must say that some of the chances we missed could have been buried. Surely at that level, you can’t miss those chances. I am talking about those two chances that Kangwa and Mukuka missed, i.e. Kangwa’s miss from a Chisamba sitter, and Mukuka’s miss from a rebound after Kalaba’s pass was saved by the keeper just before the end of the game. I am afraid to say that some players are not national team material. Unfortunately, these are the best players Zambia has at the moment. Some of our players don’t use their intellect or head to play. They don’t think. Football is not just being physical and strong, but it needs brains. In Football, you will find that most exceptional players don’t only play chipante pante, but they think before making a decision.
On another note, we should not have lost the match against Tunisia. That was the game that we should have one.
On Mweene, he should continue and I think he should be made captain.

  6. Janza must go,that useless boy can’t read the game.I feel his to blame for our early exit.Let the individuals controling football in Zambia ponder on hw to revamp the national squared.

  7. The reason We lost was that the team was very raw for Afcon and the coach was rubbish and could not offer any direction. Give the same team to a good coach the results will be very different. There is no way YOU take tiny strikers at a big tournament at the expense of tried strikers and hope to win.Fire the coach and get a top notch coach and Zambia will be back.THE CURRENT COACHES ARE ALL CLOWNS.

  8. And while our friends were camped near Cape Verde and acclimatizing, Kalu kept our team in S.A. and we all know what happened in the game against Congo D.R; the players looked fatigued and tired.S.A themselves were laughing at us and asking what we were doing in their country instead of camping near Cape Verde.
And while our couch tried to imitate the Arsenal way of playing football, our players, especially the strikers, had there own foolish plans.
And while the couch was right to leave out Katongo,Joseph Musonda and Isaac Chansa, he should not have left J. Mulenga and R.Kola.
And while the couch was right to include some youngsters like L. Musonda, Kangwa and Sate Sate, he should not have included the under 20 players.
And finally, while Zambia was booted out, they should not have embarrassed us in that maner

  9. Hw cn we get rid of kalu? Boycott matches, protest? Only way it seems to put pressure on govt to squeeze faz. Zambian football hs become kalushas personal toy.

  10. Hard to say but lets come back n reorganize ourselves there are other teams that were better and prepared well than us.No hard feelings lets not fluke wins coz we won’t know the many “flaws” in our team. better we come back and work hard.

  11. KALUSHA BWALYA and hos bunch of criminals have to go. We have had enough of them. It’s time we brought in people with progressive minds and ideas. Our football has to take a new direction. The entire system at FAZ needs a complete overhaul!

    • Peep this: Kambwili and Kalu not to long ago said local coaches aren’t ready to coach the national team when they hired inexperienced Patrice, shortly after the departure of Patrice both said Janza is ready despite him not being the best amongst the local coaches and ignored the veteran local coaches who expressed their concerns about the shortcomings of Janza! Kalu and Kambwili are in on it together!

  12. We needed the old heads like Christopher Katongo to offer guidance to small boys like Patrick Ngoma. Hell knows why PATHETIC Honour Janza did not bring him on earlier because he looked forceful when he came on the field of play. Evans Kangwa is not a national team material. He was PATHETIC to say the least. We lacked in the strike force and this i mentioned before the start of the tournament. BUT i was made to look like a fool and called names. I have been vindicated again like always!

  13. we asked for a local , kalu said Zambians not ready coach senior team. but we still insisted. y r we then insuting kalu wen he gave us wat wented?

    • Whomever asked for a local coach is dull. We are not Nigeria with Keshi or Ghana with Kwesi appiah, We have poor coaches with biased team selections. That is why others and Janza have failed. The last time Zambia had a good local coach was Chitalu or Zoom Njubvu. Not Bene Banfuchile or Patrick 5-0 Phiri. Olo useless Janza.

  14. Gentlemen what is the best way of removing Kalu from FAZ? Lets do it once and for all!! Ponga liwewe for FAZ presidency, Steven Keshi for Zambia coach period.

    • I agree with you 100%. Kalu is very arrogant. He thinks he is untouchable. Considering he was trying to buy a ministerial position with HH, now that HH didn’t win I hope the PF investigate Kalu’s corruption practices and gets canned real good. I am tired of this clown that thinks he is bigger than Zambia.

    • Kalu is not going anywhere given that there are a crop of talented young players coming up the ranks, its ma half time for kalu!

  15. Leave the team intact as it is. All we need is an experienced coach. Only add Kola and Nyambe Mulenga when he is back playing. Jacob, Mbesuma and the Katongo brothers should be thanked and honored for their contribution but should Not be recalled under any circumstances. Zambians need to move on regarding this subject. The more experience the new boys get the better.

  16. PreWEDSON Nyirenda says he is disappointed with the Under-17 national team’s preparations ahead of next month’s Orange African Youth Championship in Niger. The former Under-17 coach observed that the team had not done much to prepare for its maiden appearance at the 11th edition of the tournament. He said the match that the team played against South Africa could not have given coach Chris Kaunda a true picture of what to expect in Niger. “Our main aim was to qualify the team to that showpiece, [which] we have done. But after that I expected us to get excited and prepare the team well, but I feel we have not done much. Playing one test match against South Africa is not enough; this is giving us a very big disadvantage because the coach has not been given enough time to test many players,” Nyirenda said. The former coach of HCB Song of Mozambique further observed that the team needed to camp in West Africa and play under that region’s weather. He wondered why the team was still playing amateur sides like OYDC instead of credible international opponents. “We are going to Niger but we are still here where the weather is so different with where the team is going. South Africa’s planning is well organised; they have gone to Nigeria where the altitude is same with Niger. Playing small teams like OYDC will see us score six goals but it’s is not going to reflect the challenge we will find in Niger. Football is just like education, how you study and prepare will reflect on your exams. How do you expect the kids to do well with these kind of preparations? A champion is never crowned at the day he is lifting the trophy, a champion is crowned when he is preparing. The day you are crowned only shows that this is a champion that has been working. I really have doubts, we need more credible friendly games that can expose the players,” said Nyirenda. The young Chipolopolo were scheduled to play Malawi two weeks ago but the plans have not come to fruition. The AYC will take place from February 15 to March 1. Zambia is in Group A with Niger, Nigeria and Guinea. – See more at: http://www.postzambia.com/news.php?id=5561#sthash.sRKMeChw.dpufparation has been a major problem in Zambia. Below is another story of poor arrangements

    • Falco, this is the same abysmal preparations the senior national team went through and look at them now. If you do not plan for success then you will fail. I told you guys not long ago when FAZ said they had not budgeted for so many national teams qualifying for tournaments therefore they could not pay the womens team more money. Now here is the situation where FAZ probably has no money to send these boys to a real training camp or organize real friendlies. Surely there needs to be thought about engaging the corporate world on getting real sponsorship for the team. A key example can be the England under 21 team back in the day used to have a SNIKERS logo on their training kit. Even South Africa used to be sponsored by castle lager and used to wear the logo on their training kit. “Innovation is key,” that’s what FAZ is lacking sometimes.

    • Let kalu explain how he distributed the Qatar world cup bid he solicited under the name of youth football development in Zambia!

  17. This mweene guy is just greedy… He wants to monopolize the position… Kwasiakwa masa go n give de young ones a chance…. You look 40..I don’t know your football age anyway

  18. Hummer Bro katongo was not going to do anything. He failed against Ethiopia in 2013 he is finished. We need a new team forget katongo. Patson daka might be the answer to our scoring woes. Mayuka also needs to leave southampton. Mayuka is zambia’s best striker we can’t score without him.

    • Katongo is the real deal! Look at the stats, he accounts for something like 50% of Zambia’s goals playing from the midfield! 33 yrs for an attacking midfielder isn’t old! Those chances would have been buried by him, no doubt! With a Kalaba playing in his natural position; Katongo would have flourished!

    • Evans Kangwa is good but he needs guidance at this level. Mukuka cant defend and is limited upfront, technique and power wise!

  19. Very soon Ghana do battle with SA, hmm I hear the South Africans say we (Ghana) are brittle and easy to beat. well only time will tell.

Beware of the black stars when they play must win games

  20. Great job by Ghana though, They have every right to make fun of this mediocre team lead by a FAZ president using a remote control. What a joke Zambia is.

    • The Zambia that played Brazil with the addition of Sunzu, Kalaba, and one or two more would have beaten Ghana! But the Ghana of 2012/13 was stronger than the current Ghana.

      • WELL, I DONT THINK SO MR -CANT HE SHOOT-.

I BELIEVE GHANA IS PLAYING WITH YOUNG AND GOOD PLAYERS THAN 2012/13..Errm!! -KWAME WAS LIKE THINKING, YUOR COACH SHOULD HAVE ADDED CHRISTOFER KATONGO IN THE TEAM..

THE PLAYERS NEEDED HIM BUT, I LEARNED THEY WERE FIGHTING OF A
GIRL FRIEND THAT CHRIS BROUGHT TO TRAINING..ANYWAY 2017 WILL BE ANOTHER YEAR..

      • @Why Can’t he shoot fro there, but then Fwayo is clubless, Stup!d and worthless now. Ba Muzo is old. I don’t know though, but who else was in that team?

        • Lol. Fwayo boggles the mind. In his last season a the Romanian club before the bust up with the club owner, he was actually their top scorer in their UEFA campaign with something like four goals but……. Gaza had similar problems but the likes of Bobby Robson would make sure Gaza has a minder. Maradona was no angel but Bilado and others knew how to get the best out of him. You can throw in there Cantona and Sir Alex.

        • @TC the team Sunzu,Kalaba, Sinkala werent available:

      • @Kwame Ghana like most African teams, plays better with a hands on coach, in Ghana’s case a coach from Eastern Europe. The Ghana of 2012/13 were strong, they were only let down by a less than mediocre coach. Ghana of 2012 was less reliant on Gyan, more defensively compact, the team had better balance! The current team only has a two pronged attack; the Ayew way, dribble and pass or shoot and if all fails make a hell Mary pass to Gyan. Anyawy not to worry most teams in Afcon are beatable if you play the right game!

  21. Well done to Ghana on their qualification. Asamoah Gyan is a clear example of someone our players should try to emulate.

He is not playing in the most prestigious or competitive league in the world, but he is playing 90 mins every week and scoring goals. Guys like Mayuka are better off playing in a league that is not all pomp and world wide following, but getting gametime and goals should be number one.

Again, well done Ghana. I am honestly surprised, because I really thought Appiah was a better coach than Avram Grant, because I didn’t think Grant had the personality to lift and motivate the team, but clearly I was mistaken.

    • POSITIVELY, YU ARE THINKING CORRECTLY—>Umm!! THE CHIPOS WILL MAKE IT IN 2017..IT WAS JUST A SHEAR LUCK YESTERDAY ..THE PROBLEM WAS THE RAIN

      • Kwame, good team find ways to win games even in bad weather conditions or hostile environment, please quit deceiving Kalu and his failed experiments, Zambia is in Shambles as long as this greedy clown remains our absentee FAZ president.

  22. Also, bigups to the Ghanaian supporters on the blog for the level of maturity shown in this tournament. Its funny that it has taken us this long to find some common ground.

  23. never try to underrate ghana even with our small boys and even with all the troubles in camp we have been able to top the group and leading africas number 1 team.that ghana for u.south africa were bragging ,algeria were bragging and senegal ws also bragging that thy were bragging on ghana .now who is the bad ass kiker .

    • Yes Sir. And he he tried to buy a ministerial post by donating $20,000 to the opposition party as he was promised to be the next minister of sports should Hakainde win the by election, which did not happen. Kalu wanted that post to cover up his corrupt and financial mismanagement at FAZ which he is being investigated.

    • You don’t hear that about Abedi Pele, George Weah, or Keshi. But Kalu all because he is greedy and Jealous. Ever wonder why Charly Musonda’s kids will never play for Zambia but instead will play Belgium and Chelsea? Kalu is the issue. You guys can snatch players from high caliber teams like Germany, but for us these Musonda kid ain’t even thinking about their motherland because they know a devil would be waiting for their destruction of their careers. Kalu is a cancer to the Zambian football and I think the time is ripe for him to leave while he still commands some respect. He’s very arrogant and thinks he’s untouchable.

    • Umm!! YEP KALU, THE SPORTS HEAD OF THE CHIPOS IS LIVING IN SOUTH AFRICA..HOW ON EARTH COULD HE SEES WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TRAININGS
EVERYDAY? THIS IS A BAAD SITUATION HERE.. HE IS NOT A SPORTS ENTHUSIAST OR ASSOCIATE..HE SHOULD HELP THE COACH EVERYDAY THEY GOES TO TRAING..MAY BE HE THINKS HE HAS DONE HIS PART FOR PLAYING ANDERLECHT AND PSV SO HE HAVE TO LIVE GOOD.. THIS IS A BAD IDEOLOGY MY PPL..

      • I wonder what Kambwili thinks about the bribe Kalu gave to HH. If I was Kambwili I would start to push for the investigation of Kalu and have him brought to justice for his involvement with Qatar on the grounds that he lied that FAZ needed to borrow money from Qatar when the money was not even used for FAZ activities but went into Kalu’s account. Kalu is a crook and he is holding on to FAZ President to keep furnishing his lavish life in South Africa and to build a resume so he can go CAF and continue stealing now at a high level just like his daddy Issa Hayatou is doing.

        • MR. SOCCERMAN, I HEARD THAT THERE WAS AN EMBEZLEMENTS OF A 20.000 DOLERS FROM KALU LAST YEAR SEPT OR OCTOBER IN ONE OF THE GHANAIAN SPORTING NEWS PAPPERS..IS THIS TRUE?..AFRICANS AND THEIR CORRUPTIONS ..

ANYWAY, GHANA IS ROOTING WHAT HAPPENED IN BRAZIL
WITH CORRUPTIONS AND WHY DIDNT THE STARS QUALIFIED TO THE QUARTERS..ZAMBIANS CAN OPEN AN ENQUIRIES TO THAT EFFECT..MAY BE KALU THINKS HE HAS DONE HIS BEST OR WANA BE THE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA LATER OR SUMTIN–Kekekekekekeke!!

  24. i personally dont think ghanaians have anything against zambia.just that mumbi and paradox are in a habit of causing ghanaians to hate zambia through their provocative comments on gsn.

  25. ANYWAY, LETS MAKE IT A DAY–TOMOROW IS ANOTHER DAY..MY SON NEDS ME TO TELL HIM A STORY TO SLEEP..SO LOOOONG BROTHAS AND SISTERS..

  26. Ghana has never hated zambia because we are wise enough not to judge the masses when 2 baboons (mumbi.paradox) are putting your nation to shame. There ar3 better analysist on this blog than that of gsn so please my zambian brotgers and sisters lets have a happy discussion about football for thos who love the game..lets share ideas on how to improve each others team..zamfoot you need an article on how zambia can move forward with kalu and lets all start sharing ideas. I belive if the soccer fans on this site all meet to protest you jave a chance of kicking kalu out. Africa Up

    • Papa jizz You have raised some very pertinent issues which, however, have been obscured by your reference to Mumbi and Paradox as two Baboons in the same blog. This is very unfortunate as it is not easy for an average person to cherry-pick the important issues and advice you have provided from the baboon reference. Football, world over, has been used to unite people but unfortunately, here it is largely being used to divide people. There is thus, a need for all of us bloggers here as well as ghanasoccernet to put our heads together for the betterment of the African football instead of referring to each other as baboons. I am sure we can do better.

  27. TC–POSITIVE–WHY CANT U SHOOT FROM THERE DONT LET THE BED BUGS BITES –Kekekekekekeke TILL TOMOROW ..U HAVE A GREAT NEW PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA..

    • Nah bruh, I get my house sprayed every 6 months for every bugs bugs, so no chance of bed bugs lol. You can actually go to jail for having bed bugs in your house. I do have though these weird looking scorpion like grey things that runs in my basement but they have now disappeared due to the ground being frozen, I bet they will be back in the summer when it warms up and start raining. They scare the hell out of me..just like Kalu’s corruption and incompetence. LOL

      • “You can actually go to jail for having bed bugs in your house. I do have though these weird looking scorpion like grey things that runs in my basement but they have now disappeared due to the ground being frozen, I bet they will be back in the summer when it warms up and start raining”
You have made my day buddy!!At least I got something to make me laugh-Thanks TC Soccerman.

  28. Lets not forget what the issue is here and I do believe we have very capable people right there in Zambia to lead FAZ. We need to stop Kalu from acting like her owns Zambia football Association. Its not that we do not appreciate Kalu’s contribution, its just that the man has gone overboard and he needs to be reminded that he is no Island. Zambia is bigger than him.

    • I totally agree with you Tc Soccerman. Zambia has a very bright soccer future as long as our absentee FAZ president starts working for the nation and not for his own interest. Or else Zambians can just get rid of this guy. The team is very good, just lacking a right coach to instill mental strength into our boys. Janza can just go back to his former role as an assistant. He is a good man but I do not think he is ready to lead the team to serious tournaments.
I cannot just imagine how much a proper qualified coach could accomplish with our Chipolopolo team. The team just needs proper guidance and leadership. I am sure many good coaches would love to coach our team.

      • Exactly, if Chipolopolo coaching position would be advertised as required and coaches given opportunity to apply hired based on qualification and not hand picked, you would be amazed at how many high profile European coaches would want to drill this team because they see and know the potential this team/players and Zambians at large have.

  29. Please allow me to jump on my soap box on the Janza situation. This man was setup to fail. He went to AFCON with no contract or anything in writing. All he was told was to make the semi finals or lose his job. He was afforded one friendly match, one!!! In 2012 Zambia played 3 friendlies prior to AFCON and that doesn’t include the 3 games played in India. The logistics were also messed up, the team was camped in South Africa for crying outloud. Then you also have Mopani copper mines who only show up to foot the bill for a foreign coach, same with Government. When has Government ever offered to pay the salary of a local coach…never. This man Honour Janza was basically setup to fail. I said 5his even prior to this tournament. Our local coaches are never given the same level of support or respect and when they come up short we are quick to throw them to the side and lay blame on them. Had Janza played more fri3ndlies, perhaps the results would have been different. Just sad how quick all of you are pointing your anger towards him, when it is the system that is ran by FAZ and Government that is clearly not working. You can’t give a man a shaving stick and expect him to kill you a lion, unless he is MacGyver.

    • @Positive thinking. You are right on the effect of lack of tangible support and adequate preparation for the team but you cannot just exonerate the coach from any blame. He must shoulder part of the blame.Janza made a lot of errors in his selection for the final team.He took a very weak bench and expected too much from the few experienced players he took. You cannot afford to take a bunch of inexperienced players at this level and expect any result. It was clear from the qualifiers that we were not going to achieve anything on the pitch with that selection and we might struggle in the next qualifiers if we dont change the approach.Try to see beyond your patriotism for a Zambian coach and look at it from a footballing perceptive.janza does not inspire confidence for such a huge task as coaching our national team.

    • @Positive, maybe our coaches have not done anything to prove they are worthy of huge contracts or the payments that is afforded to foreign coaches. Remember Keshi was overlooked by Nigeria? What did he do? He went and proved himself with Togo and Mali. Zambia coaches cannot even get hired by Lesotho and you are here saying they need to get huge contracts? Zambian coaches lack the ability to lead and select players based on performance, but they select players that are in their inner circles. Why wasn’t Kola selected? Why wasn’t Chris Katongo disciplined by fining him and still called to the squad if he is banging in goals for his club? Biasness is what is wrong with Zambian coaches, also the FAZ should never poke their noses into the coaches work, but FAZ and many African association detect who is selected to the squads. In our case the “Owner” of Chipolopolo, the anointed and untouchable Mr. Kalu says don’t include Kola and Jacob Mulenga, then the puppet coaches does as he is told, what kind of leadership is that? My Suggestion is that these so called great Zambian coaches let them go and prove themselves somewhere like Keshi did and then we can talk.

      • TC soccerman. I am not saying give these guys exorbitant salaries, but at least give them the courtesy of a contract and expectations that are in writing, and more importantly give the same level of support that is afforded to foreign coaches.

The disparity in the support given to Local national team coaches and foreign coaches is not right. I honestly think that Janza given the right level of support would have had a massively different tournament. It would have also helped influence his selection process. I am not disputing your concerns, because Janza is a Kalu inner circle guy and I wouldn’t be surprised if the decisions did come from king Kalu.

Anyway, moving forward. Let us have a real selection process for the national team coach. Let us have interviews and a short list. Kwaliba a national team that hasn’t held interviews for the coach since 2008.

        • Understood and I totally agree with you, but transparency in King Kalu’s world? It’s not happening. This messiah is living on an island. Nobody can touch him. Idi Amin does what he pleases and that’s Kalu there. He will hand pick who is going to be his puppet coach, that’s all.

  30. Janza selected a weak team he is partly. Mayuka should have partnered Rodgers kola up front. Evans kangwa and sate sate are not good enough for international football. Mayuka’s pace and kola’s height would have won us games. Further he did not select a strong central midfielder. Are you telling me there are no midfielders in the local league. Janza is too blame as well.

  31. As pointed out by john, there is smethng strange about kalus insistance that the team camps in SA. Evn their depature days are delayed to prolong their stay in sa. Kalu and kamwili are up to smethng and it poses a big risk to the health of our players being forced to play in hostile conditions like blisstering hot sudan so kalu cn mke more money on the side! …………

    • Every time I say Kalu is a cancer to Chipolopolo, people would brush me aside. I think it is time Kalu leaves and now is the time. He is venerable do to his corruption and failure to lead a successful Zambian team. Kalu needs to get FIRED NOW and Zambian people, you the bloggers here have the power to do that. Lets get it done. Lets start a revolution again Kalu and his corruption and arrogance.

  32. Positive outcomes of Chipolopolo failure to make next round;

    1. I can finally sleep in peace without worrying about AFCON

    2. No need to take 2 hr lunches so I can catch the game on my cell phone

    3. Can put my chipolopolo jersey back in the closet until next time

    4. I can stop blaming everyone around the house for losing. I accused my 2 yr old of being badluck in the game against Tunisia

    5. Stop promising God things just so we can win. I probably drank my last beer 4 times last week. Thank God for he is a forgiving God.

    6. The wife can finally get the laptop back.

    7. Less viruses on the laptop from streaming games.

    8. I have learnt how shout goal in French and Arabic from watching livestreams on the internet.

    9. BP is finally back to normal.

    10. I can now be humble with my Nigerian friends…don’t know why this is positive, but my Nigerian friends think so

    • Oh poor little 2yr old. Bless his/her little heart. Please don’t ever make that little to be a bad for anything, c’mom man. Anyways we all lose it sometime and its all KALU’s fault. And I don’t hate the man, I hate his behavior, arrogance, corruption and failure to lead FAZ or shall we say leading with a remote control as some sensible bloggers have pointed out here.
