Dabid not surprised by Martin Phiri’s performance
Sensational Zanaco Assitant coach Dabid Chilufya was not surprised by the performance of debutant Martin Phiri who netted twice to lead the bankers to a three nil win over Armed forces of Gambia.
Chilufya said having spent alot of time with the striker at the national team he knew what to expect.
” We started training here with him and We went to Mongu with the national team together then Morocco and when he was given chance to play he should that he can do well, so am not surprised by his performance today,” he said
Chilufya believes Zanaco will keep getting better as they are still trying to blend the old and the new players despite the emphatic three nil victory
“We have done well but not very much because this is the first game and we have a lot of new players, So we are trying to blend the old and the new. Going forward we are going to do better,” he said.
Armed forces of Gambia coach Ebrima Jatta believes his team’s biggest undoing was failing to score.
“Our biggest problem was not scoring goals and obviously that’s what we will try to work on going into the return leg,” he said.
A Martin Phiri brace and a goal from Ziyo Tembo were enough for Zanaco who comfortably beat Armed forces of Gambia by the tune of three goals to nil.
