  1. I am not sure if this is a good idea. I thought the CHAN tournament is the right time to include and identify new talent. But then again, you can’t blame Chicken George when you have youngsters who are amapulanga. I think it’s OK as they will be there to offer guidance to the young ones.

      • Ala twanaka nabo abaiche aba. We have really tried to support these young stars but nothing good have come out of these up coming players. Let the performing players like Chris and Issac be included.

      • You are mistaken. Have you really understood my statement? Go back to secondary or primary school and learn english. I don’t need to be lecturing old people on simple english. Nonsense.

    • GOOOOOOD move, Chris and Chansa are still ok. Even Joseph Musonda, Clifford, Nyambe, all should be in CHAN team. Only missing a goalkeeper.
Yes yes yes the players we have seen of late are not worth entertaining.

  2. It’s desperation at work. Uganda, Mali and Zimbabwe will beat us. Yes we need Chris and Isaac, but this team has no defenders. Chepeshi and Mkandawire are our weakest link at all levels of our National team

    • Glad you are back. The Black Stars are not there. Failed to qualify as most of their players are plying their trade abroad, furiously preparing for the world cup qualifications. You sit in Afghanistan, Thailand and Yemen with your players. THE WORLD CUP IS A NO NO for Zambia. Hopefully you may qualify in 2048. Good luck in advance as I might not be living at that time.

  3. I think the process of introducing the youngsters to the National Team should be gradual. They need to learn something from the old guards before they can take over.

  4. CHAN is not meant for young players alone.
Chan is afcon for home based players, the competition is not a developmental one and not defined for a particular age group.

But don’t expect something new. It will be the same story since AFCON 2012. Zambia will find it hard to win a game(3points) and will certainly crash out of the group stage as usual. Group stage exit is the second name for zambian football from U17 to U20 to U23 to Chan team to Afcon team…. Same Story.

  5. Good move. Any team needs experience to compliment the youngsters. There should be at least three experienced players in all the games. A striker a midfielder and a defender (Joseph Musonda should be roped in as well) This experience will rub off onto the youngsters as the tournament progresses.

  6. Chris katongo is among the best captain zambia has ever produced so we need a send off match for him.if he performed well he should be in the team that will face congo brazzavile in Afcon qualify.he still have what it take to be in the national team.

  7. 1/2 a step forward, 10 steps backwards. Other teams use these tournaments to develop talent, we as usual are caught up in myopic goals. I hope someone gets the kind of suspension that Blatter got. Katongo and Chansa should turn these invitations down, in my opinion.

  8. Good move chicken Geo.There is still football in those two, see what is happening with Mbesuma. People were saying, he is finished but the guy is one who has brought stability in the team for us to beat Kenya and Sudan at their backyards.Mr. Lwandamina, it’s not a gamble you are right.Bravo!!! and sorry for those insults my man.
When Peter Kaumba was getting tired they roped in Kalusha Bwalya. At old age Alex Chola helped Zambia to beat Nigeria after goal less draw in Lagos and Zambia qualified after beating them here, a goal engineered by old Chola.Good move man.

    • You can assemble the strongest team in the world but for as long as you do not prepare well you might as well not go to the tournament and from what i have seen so far, Zambia is going to donate points there. You reap what you sow.

  9. Good move sure George. For the first time you have made me happy. Now keep kalengo he must not go. Give him good money at ZESCO so that he does wonders at caf games.surely kalengo, katongo, chaansa,Munthali, and Charles zulu we can meet any team at chan and defeat it.good move indeed

    • I agree with you FAZ should organise two or three friendlies to help the team gel.Zimbabwe have already organised a friendly against Cameroon and they are already in camp.

    • CHAN mune is for any performing locally based player period irespective of the age.even one who is over 40 remember Rodger Mila how old was he in 2002 world cup 42 but scored the only goal when Camoroon lost 1-6 to France.so if Joseph Musonda has what it takes to play for team Zambia why NOT

  10. First round exit!!

Thats the trait of this small time, half baked minnow football nation! Lol

Mali ll eat these cookies for dinner!!

    • We miss you there, brother Francis Mumbi. We need a balance: Intelligent persons (which we have in abundance) & others like you (which we lack ).

  11. I have a feeling that George has called the two old players with a view to assessing them for possible re-inclusion in the main chipolopolo side following the failure by the young lads to impress. By the way, is Nkausu in the country? If so, he should have also been included.

  12. @mumbo,for now ,focuse on beating your group opponents to qualify frm the group stage.I will go and hang a transformer if chipo make it out of the group.I promise not to visit this site if chipos make it out of their grp.I knw they are going there to make up numbers, but not to progress.we dnt go to tourneys to disgrace ourselves like u did during the just ended tourney in Senegal.

    • Osman, your CHAN team was humbled 3 – 0 early this year by this very team you saying a flukes….remember when you tried your luck in the COSAFA tournament . The result was Zambia 3 – Ghana 0.

      • ..and they lamentably failed to qualify for the U23 and CHAN tournaments, but keeps on heating on our ‘useless’ team that qualified – how childish. @ Don: Comrade osman usually gets chocked with facts – You will know he is chocked when he starts using the word ‘Idiot’ when he gets challenged. When he uses that word, just know that he has reached his last part of reasoning…Just wait a while and hear him respond…

      • COSAFA specialists. Good for you. Make an attempt at the real thing THE MUNDIAL, THE World Cup. Not COSAFA & Chan. There you gain world recognition.

  13. Ba Zamfoot whts with yo half baked story U WERE LOADSHADED? Hire pipo tht can type fast lol. I conquer with da majority we need sumtin different this tym around we r tired of the U17s,U20s & U23s tht jst seem 2 look gud on paper but practically useless maybe a chan trophy might soften our hearts a little bit tho iyo ni #Dreamland.

  14. Old Brooms Sweeps Well CK11 & Chansa Teach The Kids Hw 2 Conquare Africa. If U Dont Suppot The 2 Prayers It Means U Dont Want A Throphy Remember In 2012 We Had Chintu Kampamba In The Team As Our Veteran.Bravo CK11, Bravo Chansa & Brava Chicken!!!!

  15. Mumbi that virus infested website GSN has become a desert wasteland. all those ghana bloggers has stopped blogging, I wonder y. one thing for sure that website is full of fake stories

    • Zambia is full of fake “Africans”. I reserve the right not to mention names. A word to the wise is enough.
It beats my imagination as to how we could have well groomed and balanced personalities like Positive Thinking and at the same time we have hollow minded individuals like …….. & the reincarnated Francis ……..

    • all those Ghana bloggers “has”……. Go back to your primary school teacher and reprimand him he did a disservice to you. It could be Mumbi was in the same class. No wonder you think and write alike. Brother, better polish your language skills before you spew out …… You may advise Mumbi to do likewise

  16. Identifying new talent finshi????? Ninshi tamunakile nama embarrassments due to th so called new ‘untalented’ talent? In 2016 we need to challenge in all competitions will b engaged in. Ts been long since th zambia soccer fans had smiles on thr faces.

  17. [email protected] is the problem I always have with zambians.instead of talking of world cups(snr, under 20and 17),afcon,u are over hear talking about cosafa and cesafa.u need to think progressively and stop relishing your past achievement on these bogus tourneys.no wonder your team have not made any good impact in your ever dwindling football participations after afcon 2012.keep it up and u shall see yourselves at the extreme bottom of the stairs as u are already on your way.By the way, have u ever seen any player frm the team u bashed in our b.stars.massa u need to undergo medical exs to check on the functioning of your brain cos your level of thinking can’t stop beating my imagination.A word to a wise is enouth but to a fool is not enouth.go for medical exams.

    • …first, you start with a hollow laughter… then you end with the word ‘fool’ – typical of nincompoops. I mentioned earlier that you fail to reason beyond the word ‘idiot’ and now you have run away from it and adopted the word ‘fool’. You want to make a difference huh? Nothing will change in you by running away Comrade. Your reasoning shall always end after using such words.

  18. Once upon a time we could send 2 strong teams to represent Zambia in regional and African competitions….Those years are gone ….these days we cant even find 23 decent talents for one team and we have to recall retired legs. Both Chansa and Katongo served the nation very well but let’s face it their time is over!

  19. LEADERSHIP & MOTIVATION IN LOCAL CHIPOLOPOLO: Jacob Banda surrenders captain’s armband to Skipper Katongo
    .
There was jubilation in the Zambia camp this morning as the CHAN squad commenced preparations for Rwanda 2016 with the highlight being goalkeeper Jacob Banda voluntarily relinquishing the captaincy and handing the captain’s arm-band to AFCON 2012 skipper captain fantastic Chris Katongo.
At the start of the first training session this morning, Banda walked up to Katongo as the team underwent their routine grouping for prayer and with a short statement that he was delighted with the rest of the squad to have Katongo back in the team, Banda handed the captain’s band to huge applause.
Banda said it was a huge motivation and morale to have Katongo back in the squad and that the whole team was looking forward to the 2012 BBC African footballer of the year to lead them to glory in Rwanda.
Training was characterised by lots of joy, competiveness and a clearly visible renewed spirit of hard work.
Katongo was yesterday called to the CHAN squad together with another AFCON winner Isaac Chansa as calls from fans mounted for the local Chipolopolo to be strengthened ahead of the final tournament which is competed for by players in domestic leagues.
Discontentment has increasingly grown among fans with age-group teams after the disappointing loss of the Zambia under 23 team in Senegal. Fans and stakeholders have called for experienced league players to be called to the CHAN team ahead of “under 17, under 20 and some under 23 players who failed to progress beyond the group stages of all continental championships this year.
Under 23 coach Fighton Simukonda has since been fired. Lwandamina will be under a lot of pressure to deliver at the CHAN finals with the minimum progression from the group. – Zambian Football (On Twitter @ZambianKICKOFF)

  20. @luapula bize,I thaught u cud not only reason well but it has become quite apparent to me that u cannot see as well.tell me,where did u see the word ‘fool ‘in my comment on this article.I will never run away frm my comment.I stand by any thing I have ever said here.well if u want me to use idiot and fool to address u,so be it.because u knw u are a fool and idiot,u always dnt think there is no any other word in English.your foolishness and idiocy are now manisfesting.

  22. @ luapula bize,it has now become clear to me that u are an epitome of those who cannot reason beyond the word ‘fool’ and ‘idiot’ cos I cannot comprehend why u claimed I called u idiot when there is nothing like like that in this article.

  23. @Paradox, Ghanasoccernet is a dumpster no wonder they are here time and again vomiting feces with their nonsense. Have you been to Ghanasoccernet lately? Its a joke and sh!ty hole. So to the modafuckers bloggers from Ghana that are here just to spill nonsense, enjoying your stay here as Zamfoot is the place to be.

    • We don’t need your welcome. We invited ourselves. We are here to stay. We are a pain, right? In America, there is a saying “you aint seen nothing yet”. I hope you understand the jargon.

      • lol, “We ain’t seen nothing yet”? Nigga Please, we seen too much of you f@ckers talking sh!t here, but it doesn’t bother me anymore, but it tells me something…that you f@cks can’t live without mother Zambia and its people. You f@cks loves us that is why you need to come to our site and check out whats up. You f@cks had to live without hearing whats happening pa Zed would be like living in stone edge, so yeah keep coming to Zamfoot, we get it, we own you f00ls and therefore need to keep get some updates from us. So don’t pretend.

        • We are paying you back. There is a history to that. Paradox & Mumbi frequented our site till we chased them out from our site. Now we are telling them that they “aint seen nothing yet”. There is nothing that I personally cherish by being combative to my fellow Africans. However, in the event of some misfits, who had it not been the internet would be wallowing in misery and because being only half educated think they are the gurus in their own right, we pump into their empty pumpkins that there are brains in Africa too. Just one problem: LEADERSHIP. It is because of the misfits that the continent is run by dictators.
ASSIGNMENT: Always read the comments of Positive Thinking or ROK (missing for some time). You will see that Africa has brains
Read the comments of Paradox (Zambia) and Mumbi Francis, you will see that Africa has a long way to go. MERRY CHRISTMAS

          • Merry Christmas to you too and your family, I copy what you have said and agree to what you have said about African leadership,Positive thinking, ROK, however, I would not take a lot of things people blog about here or Ghana site seriously, its just for fun or just being loud mouths. I enjoy it. I used to get angry, but not anymore. People connect differently and maybe that’s how some do it on your site..just to connect and get under your skin. If you get angry, they win, because they have accomplished the goal, but if you ignore it then you remain happy. Its a matter of choice. Why do you think I ignored selfmad? The kid is plain ignorant and stupid with whatever he blogs about.

    • A product from a leaked condom might be far better than a product which was being aborted but the abortion failed. The brain in the latter instance will be affected. The shape of the attempted abortion product will be amorphous. The end product is Francis Mumbi. No doubt nothing good comes from him. When others are offering constructive ideas, Mumbi & Paradox engage in wishful thinking and superstition. How glad I am that Zambia, indeed Africa, doesn’t have a pool of such misfits. I am praying that such misfits do not leave any marks behind so that later generations do not have any links with them. We need progressive thinking Africans. Positive Thinking Africans. Africans with analytical minds. Forward looking Africans.

      • Lol Mulenga? You sound like a Kwesi. Quit impersonating Zambians, We ain’t as ugly as most of y’all, but can’t blame you though, everyone from West Africa with their 419 mentality wants to be either Zambian,Malawian or South Africans because we are honest people and you punks wants our passports to do your drugs trafficking. Punk go back to trashy Ghanasoccernet.

        • Your piece shows your intellect. I singled out the misfits in Zambia. You are lumping a whole region together. Narrow minded indeed. Your grammar is also suspect; You punks “wants”. Do you know the difference between singular and plural. Go back to learn the personal pronouns. In fact, you have a long way to go since your error is elementary & therefore unforgivable.

          • My intellect level is a result of personal choices and satisfaction to my goals and has nothing to do with how I spell or sentence construction of freaking Zamfoot. If you are here to correct people’s grammar, then good luck with that, you will need it. Oh, News for you b!tch, Zamfoot does not have an edit function so if you don’t proof read your blog before submitting, then everyone gets to see all “errors” and some people do it on purpose because we don’t give a sh!t. By the way “wants” was used correctly in that form. Here copy and paste this in this spell check that I have provided for you and its British English by.
            http://www.reverso.net/spell-checker/english-spelling-grammar/
copy and paste “wants to be either” and you will realize you are just an id!ot with a bought drive-by education level, but good try though. I am good with my intellect level and I don’t need to prove to you in any way. Get that?

  24. Now, glad that my idol, Chris Katongo is back. He was one of the best captains of a national team Africa has had. I am a little biased towards Chris. My admiration for him is “walks the talk”. He leads by example. If some of our political leaders could do that, what a world we would live in on this blessed but mismanaged continent. Look around our forests, fields, rivers, parks etc etc. Sunshine is in abundance but we do not make much good of it. Our football fields don’t have green grass all year round. Why? For grass to grow, two major requirements are sunshine and water. Sunshine is free. Why can’t we just add water and our fields will be the best in the world. LACK OF LEADERSHIP. This is why Chris is an icon in African football. His leadership qualities are unmatched. Bravo Chris, you call to the team was long overdue. Your presence alone is a boost to so many of us. Thank you for accepting the challenge, Chris.

    • Hey c’mon Comrade – I am not your tutor to remind you on which paragraph you stated words like ‘fool’ and ‘idiot’. If you are used to spoon feeding, i am not here to do that. Work hard and check your posts. That’s why i will keep on insisting that you cant reason further that the word ‘idiot’ coz you even forget about your details in your previous posts – such a pity. How did you manage to complete school if at all you even did?

    • Constructive words, not hollow ones. Read Positive Thinking’s posts. Sensible persons are easily discerned. Paradox is the Donald Trump of Zambia, only that Paradox might not be a billionaire. Even we do not need rich fools in Africa. People with ideas. Constructive ideas. Forward looking ideas. Debatable ideas. Progressive ideas. Ideas that will take Africa from its woes. Educated ideas from highly educated persons. How I miss ROK. We need him to join Positive Thinking to discuss such ideas. In such instances, Mumbi (now Francis Mumbi) & Paradox are found wanting.

  25. SENEGAL 2015: THE REASON ZAMBIA NEEDS AN EXPERT FOREIGN COACH

…..it is alarming that the whole bunch of coaches we have entrusted with World Cup qualification could not conjure up a plan to stop average U23 sides and now we expect them and the same youngsters to win CHAN and take us to Russia 2018. Come on FAZ! Give us an international expatriate coach…..

    EXPERT ANALYSIS BY PATRICK PHIRI
    LUSAKA

Now that tempers have calmed down a bit and the dust has settled, I can indulge in a discourse which I believe will resonate with the Zambian fans countrywide and in lands far from our borders.
Following Zambia’s loss to Tunisia, South Africa and Senegal and subsequent confirmation that the long wait to return to the Olympic Games would have to be further extended, the tournament in Senegal brought to the centre stage some critical matters surrounding the national teams which need to be tackled with bare knuckles before the CHAN finals, the second stage of AFCON qualifying and most crucially before the start of the tough FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October next year.
Zambia is not shot of talent. Zambia has many talented youngsters and veterans who can lift the Chipolopolo to glory again. The nation is also blessed with a visionary leadership that has changed the face of the game. Granted, there are serious short-comings at Football House and many questions about the efficiency of how secretariat is run. Many football experts and analysts have raised questions about the running of Football House. That even FAZ councillors have raised concerns about the secretariat is not a secret. That remains for Kalusha Bwalya to address. I can say with confidence that the Great Kalu, will be re-elected president again in March 2016. I don’t see Andrew Kamanga, Henschel Chitembeya and any other persons who may arise to pose a challenge. Yes they will make the headlines in the dailies and win polls on Facebook and talk about the ACC and the US$80,000 from Bin Hammam but that’s as good as it will get for them. I have been privileged to serve a number of FAZ lower division teams. I have travelled to watch league games and attended a couple of FAZ meetings recently. Love him or hate him, Erick Mwanza’s travels have done so much damage to any possible Kalusha rivals. He has worked to harmonize officils, restructure the league and in so doing consolidated the power base of The Great Kalu. Whether planned or not, his return from Cairo to FAZ has been a huge positive and timely. Added to that, the personality of Kalusha is just too great for any of those thinking they can unseat him. FAZ members have by now already made up their minds. They just wait to vote. But that subject is for another day.
For now, it is the lessons of Senegal 2015.
It is alarming that the whole bunch of coaches we have entrusted with World Cup qualification could not conjure up a plan to stop average U23 sides and now we expect them and the same youngsters to win CHAN and take us to Russia 2018. Come on FAZ! Give us an international expatriate coach.
George Lwandamina, Fighton Simukonda, Chintu Kampamba were the men in charge of Chipolopolo. They were in Senegal, witnessing the humbling of our team. These men took to Senegal about half the team they have been using in AFCON and World Cup qualifying. It is more likely, they will fall on the same players who failed this nation, and failed lamentably so in Dakar.
In the wake of the 3-2 defeat at the hands of South Africa, FAZ president Kalusha said: Ï thought in a most important match, we let ourselves down. In the first half, we seemed to be in control and after we scored, there was not so much danger coming from South Africa. At the beginning of the second half, in a six minute spell, we lost the match. At the end, we did not step up to take the opportunity that was before us. We go out learning the hard way. We have to recover and start to prepare for the CHAN now.”
The FAZ boss summed it up well and his analysis really encompassed everything that went wrong in Senegal.
    TACTICAL AND TECHNICAL INFERIORITY
From the games Zambia played, the team lacked technical and tactical discipline or superiority. The boys looked tired, with heavy elephant legs unable to step up to seize any opportunities as Kalusha put it. They had no ideas. They could not even make five successive passes. They could not run. They could not conjure dribbles. They could not master any intelligent defence splitting moves. They had no shape. Worse still, they lacked leadership on the field. They were bereft of self-belief and the hunger that successful ides exhibit. But overall, that was a reflection of the work of the technical staff of Lwandanima, Simukonda and Chintu. That was the best the three could throw at our opponents.
There have been many questions about (with due respect) to the capabilities of the trio to take Zambia forward. These have been shelved every time Zambia has recorded wins over Kenya and back-to-back against Sudan. I am a firm believer that while the trio can do us proud, the challenge ahead requires someone of the character of Herve Renard to lead them. For now Simukonda has been sacked as U23 coach. Lwandamina and Chintu will now be joined by goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri on the road to Rwanda.
It is the outing in Rwanda that should even shape whether Lwandamina gets a full contract as Zambia coach or not. That decision will be popular with Zambia winning the CHAN. But should him and his men fail, FAZ should look elsewhere.
    PLAYER SELECTION
Other than the need to get a new international expatriate to lead the bench, the coaches in Senegal had questions about player selection to answer. There were allegations, and these should be treated as rumours, that there is growing discontent among players because of how they are treated.
He may have gone to Zambia Air Force training, but what explanation does George Lwandamina and his assistants have to banish Danny Munyau from the squad? Why did they leave Moses Phiri from the squad and Charles Zulu in preference for other unproven talents? Why is Toaster Nsabata even considered ahead of Racha Kola? Some fans I was watching the South Africa game with in discussing Munyau took me back to 2007 at the Under 20 World Cup in Canada. After that world cup, Lwandamina allegedly wanted Munyau to move to join him at his club side. Munyau’s refusal created a gap and enmity between the two and that bone Chicken George still has to chew with Munyau has come back. That is why in time, Munyau has dropped in dramatic fashion from being a strong Kennedy Mweene deputy and competitor to being out of the team. Why have Jacob Mulenga, Chisamba Lungu, Fwayo Tembo all excused themselves from playing for Lwandamina? How many others are in similar limbo? These may be mere allegations and FAZ has not bothered to respond to them but they give rise to so much talk among fans. That is why calls for an expatriate coach still echo.
    CHAN 2016
The most logical and tactically and technically sound decision Lwandamina has recently made is to recall captain fantastic Chris Katongo and Isaac Chansa to beef up the CHAN bound team. It gives the team leadership and a fighter who can have such positive impact on the team.
There may be two or three more others to consider and I hope that would be the Christmas present the coach can give the fans who have suffered throughout the year.
Going into Kigali next month, it will do Lwadamina a lot of good if he can reduce on the number of these so-called youngsters in the squad. CHAN is not a nursery school for under 17 and under 20 boys. It’s a matured players’ platform, a stage for Zambia B to get playing time. And no one can argue that the country does not have better experienced league campaigners to get us out of the group and onwards to the final.
Anything short of success in Rwanda should surely raise the emergency red-flag to overhaul the bench before the World Cup qualifiers.
It is less than a month away, so let us gear to cheer a real development Chipolopolo squad and not a group of “under-something” exiting in the first round.

    • You have become my puppet; that was my motive – and its working pretty well. I am enjoying the way you are dancing to my tunes – replying to my comments in huge volumes. By the way, what happened to your grammar in English Comrade :-)?

  29. Great move mr lwandamina,it was suppose to be like this even at first ,blending is all we needed not to overhaul the entire team ,Chris and chansa are still good players ,even Joseph musonda.I recall one so called soccer anylist on znbc in 2012 said Zambia didn’t have what it takes to lift the cup ,but later he was ashamed, they’re no under dogs now.

    • You see Comrade..its always ‘fool’, ‘fool’ ‘fool’ ‘fool’ and idiot in your vocabulary; no substance in your yaps whatsoever. Nothing new – typical of nincompoops. Nonetheless, its a day to rejoice in this festive period my bro. Smile and be merry. Go home relax with family. And hey, please pass my regards to your wife. Cheers for now!!!

  30. typical Zambian mentality, relishing their prowess in football and now English grammer.Let me tell u,its just typing errors or ommision(s) u have seen.check it out well and u wil see that your entire family members wud not be able to compose such piece.
