Chipolopolo midfielder hints on desire for AFCON triumph
Zambia national team midfielder Emmanuel Banda has expressed his desire to qualify and win the 2019 Africa Cup of nations which will be held in Cameroon.
In a post on his Instagram account, The KV Oostende midfielder seemed to be suggesting to his fellow 2017 U20 AFCON gold medalist Enock Mwepu who plays for Redbull Salzburg of Austria that his ambitions were to win the 2019 AFCON and qualify to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Banda and Mwepu were key members of Coach Beston Chambeshi’s all conquering U20 national team that won the AFCON trophy last year and reached the quarter finals of the World Cup.
At only 20, both players have been capped at senior level and are expected to play an integral part in coach Sven Vandenbroek’s Chipolopolo squad.
Zambia face Namibia on September 7th in their second match of their Cameroon 2019 AFCON qualifiers before traveling to face Guinea Bissau on 10th October.
