The Zambia national soccer team has finally left for Morocco via South Africa where they will participate in the 2018 CHAN tournament.

The Wedson Nyirenda coached side will make a stop over in South Africa where they will play a friendly match against PSL giants Orlando Pirates on Wednesday morning.

The team will then leave for Morocco later on in the evening through Dubai to arrive at their base on Thursday.

Justin Shonga whose goals were instrumental in qualifying the team to the CHAN finals when he formed a deadly partnership with Brian Mwila plays for Pirates and is expected to be involved in the friendly game.

The Zambian squad was initially expected to leave for Morocco on Friday. The departure day was changed to Monday but that fell through as well.

With the late departure, the technical team will have to settle for the Pirates game as the only friendly match to fine tune the squad.

Zambia is in Group B together with Namibia, Ivory Coast and Uganda.

The Chipolopolo play the first game on Sunday 14th January against Uganda.
