Chipolopolo to face either Guinea or Morocco in a friendly ..local lads to leave for North Africa on Wednesday amid kit crisis
Zambia could either face Guinea or Morocco in an international friendly match ahead of the CHAN tournament, the ZamFoot Crew understands.
And the team is set to leave for North Africa on Wednesday, 24 hours after returning from Mongu, Western Province where they had set camp since December 27, 2017.
“The team was given a day off today in Mongu to celebrate new year. They will be returning to Lusaka tomorrow (Tuesday),” a ZamFoot Crew source said.
Thereafter the team is expected to fly to either Tunisia or Morocco but that will be clear on Tuesday.
If the team sets base in Tunisia then they are likely to play the West Africans while if they go direct to Morocco then they are likely to face Herve Renard’s men.
Before the Christmas break, Chipolopolo Boys assistant coach Aggrey Chiyangi revealed FAZ was also negotiating with Cameroon for a possible warm match.
Amid a kit crisis news, they will play in non branded jersey at CHAN tournament, Zambia Coach Wedson Nyirenda is expected to psyche the boys from the backlash FAZ will receive from the Chipolopolo faithful.
The team is not expected to don the ‘new kit’ in the friendly games.
Zambia will open her campaign against Uganda before facing Ivory Coast.
The Ziyo Tembo captained side will wrap their Group B fixtures against the ‘Brave’ Warriors of Namibia.
This is the third time Zambia will be at CHAN.
Renard helped Zambia to a third finish in 2009 while George Lwandamina’s side reached the quarter finals without conceding in 270 minutes group stage games.
As things stand, Zambia has three options for friendlies; Cameroon, Morocco and Guinea.
