Chipolopolo captain to extend his stay at Sundowns

Birthday boy Kennedy Mweene is set to extend his stay at South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 33 year old goalkeeper joined the Pretoria based from Free State Stars.

Though he has continued to be Zambia’s first choice, the former Kitwe United and Lusaka Celtic goalkeeper has been playing second fiddle to Ugandan Denis Onyango.
Mweene won his international debut against Malawi 12 years old.

He has gone to earn over 75 caps and helped Zambia to the 2012 African Cup of Nations title.

In Zambia he is considered as one of the true greats and has earned comparisons with the legendary duo James Phiri and Efford Chabala

  1. I guess at 33 I wouldn’t blame him for sticking around at Sundowns. I wish he could have moved to somewhere where he could get more game time.
