Chembo defends ‘goal shy’ Zesco United strikers
Zesco United Assitant coach Tenant Chembo has come to the defense of his goal shy strikers who missed a host of chances against Red Arrows.
Speaking to Zambianfootball.co.zm after the 1 – 0 win over Red Arrows, Chembo said his strikers were only having a bad day at the office.
“No, we have got strikers on board. It’s just one of those games were you miss alot of chances,” Chembo ZamFoot.
“It was evident in the second half as we told our boys to be calm in front of goal,” he said.
Zesco United created a host of chances in the game but failed to convert them even when it seemed easier to score.
Jackson Mwanza, Jesse Jackson Were and John Chingandu were the main culprits.
The 2015 super league champions however found the back of the net in the 71st minute when Were converted a Mwanza cross to move up to fourth on the log with 52 points.
Zesco United were eliminated from the Barclays Cup at the semi final stage after they failed to break down the Napsa Stars defense to end the game 0 – 0 in regulation time before losing 4 – 2 on post match penalties.
The Ndola side is the lowest scoring side in the top six om the log with 34 goals scored in 28 games.
