Charity shield will give people an idea of what zanaco has in store – Chilufya
The Zambia Premier League Champions, Zesco United will later today take on Zanaco Football Club in the 2019/2020 Zambia Super League curtain-raiser, The Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield at Woodlands Stadium.
Sensational Zanaco assistant coach Dabid Chilufya believes the match will act as a gauge for the bankers ahead of the new season.
“Coming to the game we as Zanaco we want to play the game that will give us an eye-opener for the season, we want to use the players that we have so people must come to see that Zanaco is going in the right direction,” he said.
Coach Dabid added that despite the Club not being actively involved in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup the club has played a number of friendly games in the preseason to help them prepare.
“Zanaco has not played any competitive or CAF games because they are on ‘bye’ but I believe that we have played Mamelodi Sundowns and that game gave us a picture of what will happen in Continental Football, Charity Shield can not be compared to CAF football and the Sundowns game gave us a picture we know what we are doing and where we are going,” he said.
Zanaco takes on Zesco United at The Woodlands Stadium but before that, it will be National Division One sides Young Green Eagles and National Assembly who will square off at the Same Venue.
This encounter sets the tone for the upcoming 2019/2020 Campaign which kicks off on the 31st of August,2019.
