The Football Association of Zambia FAZ has announced that the semi-finals of the season opening Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield will be played on Thursday while the final will be on Sunday 1st April.
FAZ have stated that they made the latest rescheduling to accommodate Zesco United who might have a problem scheduling their games should they qualify to the final of the Charity Shield.
“We had told the clubs that the semi-finals will be played in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium but that has also changed. The semi-finals will be played as a double-header at Arthur Davies Stadium Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday, ” FAZ communications manager Desmond Katongo said.
“The line-up of the fixtures has not been affected by these changes so the first semifinal remains the match between Zesco United and Power Dynamos while Zanaco and Nkana will play the second semifinal.
“When we rescheduled the Charity Shield fixtures we had not taken into account Zesco United’s participation in the Caf Confederation Cup but they are scheduled to play against Enugu Rangers during the same weekend we we had planned to have the final. So to avoid a clash of fixtures and to give Zesco United ample time to prepare for their match in Nigeria, we had to make these changes. ”
The games were initially scheduled to be played on Wednesday 29th March before being moved to Saturday.
Katongo added that the venue for the the final would be announced at a later date.
Zesco United will play Power Dynamos while Zanaco take on Nkana.
Good rationale. Go Nkana, go! Go get ’em! Football is made in Kitwe!
I see Zesco going with reservations in this tie. Alread on the list of scaring injuries is Misheck Chaila. n his
