Chambeshi rallies Chipolopolo strikers to take responsibility after loss to Cameroon
Beston Chambeshi has implored his strikers to not always look to score a ‘beautiful goal’ but to take responsibility to shoot on target.
Chambeshi who saw his team go down 2 – 1 to African Champions Cameroon in an international friendly match played in Madrid Spain, told the ZamFoot Crew that his team played well despite conceding an early goal.
“We played well despite conceding an early goal and we should have scored one or two goals in the first half after creating a number of chances,” he said.
“You can tell that we have the strikers who can attack but all that is needed is someone to take that responsibility to shoot. We want to score a beautiful goal, but we can’t do that always, we need players who can shoot.”
“Otherwise it was a good game and we could see that Cameroon felt our strength we now have to prepare for our next games,” he added.
Moses Nyondo, Shemmy Maybe, Kebson Kamanga, Kings Kangwa, and Paul Banda were all handed their senior team debuts in the game and the Nkana coach singled out the Shemmy for their performances.
“We saw Nyondo and Shemmy they played well and facing a team like Cameroon, I am happy with the boys they put up a good fight despite us giving them an early goal am happy with the team.”
Chambeshi has assembled a new look side that has a blend of local and foreign-based players mostly comprising of the U23 lads.
This was in the first of the three friendly games lined up for the Chipolopolo to be played in a space of eight days. Chipolopolo’s next face the Gambia on Wednesday and their tour of duty with a game against Morocco on the 16th of June 2019.
