Chambeshi asks fans to have faith in technical bench

Chipolopolo stand in coach Beston Chambeshi has replied to criticism over player selection saying he has picked players who have the talent and needs support from the fans.

Chambeshi alluded to stiff competition at clubs as reason to why some of the boys where not playing but they have the necessary talent and will to succeed at national team especially that they have been there before.

” People can talk, They started with the U20 when we won the AFCON, Where were these boys playing?, but they came on board and showed the character. All we need is to have confidence in the technical staff . We can not pick a player who is not playing . These players have been training at their clubs , Look at Mangani look at Muchindu it’s only that these players at Club level are being blocked by big boys is what I can say otherwise they have got talent you don’t just have to say they are not playing they are training at their clubs it’s just they can’t be given that Chance that’s why we calling them here, Because we called 30 players, It does not mean all the 30 players will go to COSAFA,” He said

“We have to give chance to the players so that they get closer to the team because they have been here before Unless we are calling someone from the blue then they can say why are you calling this player but otherwise we need that confidence from the fans. I can not explain alot and say we got these players because of ABC all we need is that let them just support the team,” He added.

The Zambia U23 national team boss has also left the prospect of one or two foreign based players joining the squad open as many European leagues have gone on recess.

” We are looking at that but so far i have not heard how far they have been performing away from home so am waiting for the team manager and my technical stuff to come up with one or two players who will be available,” He said.

Just win us the Casava cup and we can trust you coach

Well said coach. Not all players are picked on merit some they are accommodated for developmental purpose. This have been happenning since the days of renard. Coach i support lets go and play namibia without professionals. Cosafa is not a result oriented tournament. We are capable of beating any team without professionals..

  3. Positive thinking says:

Wait, what? Waiting on the team manager to tell him who is available? This man can’t check on the foreign based players.

In the past, coaches have tracked the foreign based players. Abasungu even get on the phone and talk to their foreign based players once they are in the seat to see how they are doing or how they feel about donning the national team jersey. Ku Zambia it’s just sit down and then wait, then a fixture comes up you put out a list without even talking to these individuals.

Don’t fall for the same old things ba Chambeshi. Learn from others mistakes and others victories and follow suit.

“CHAMBESHI ASKS FANS TO HAVE FAITH IN TECHNICAL BENCH??

What faith when you have already made a fuck up by selecting a player who is not featuring at the club where you are the coach.

Further more training and playing are 2 different issues

Chambeshi’s concept is that a player must just train at his club and have game time at national team level. As far as i know, a player must be nurtured at his club and have gave time before he is considered for national duty. What kind of thinking is this by our local coaches. I agree totally that we surely need an expatriate coach especially muzungu. Our local coaches lack positive thinking and direction.

This clown is a joke ati as long as a player is training he can play in the national team, yes if you benched at say real madrid not at arrows, nkana and the likes but you make the squad kwena corruption in the open God help us.

Chambeshi and Bwale are not as good as believed! Another major issue is lack of vocabulary to communicate the points they want to drive home! In their struggles with English, the issues that need clarity are garbled. Thereby getting miunderstood. Its a wonder for any coach anywhere to pick a benched player to the national going for a major tournament!!!??? Talk to these jokers in vernacular…….the correct explanations will be clear in their mother tounge, i hope.

Mr chambish sir , training at the club and playing are totally two differen things, game time at club level shapes a player’s. You are coming out as if you are not a coach.if those players are being blocked by big boys at clubs, then that is the sign to say they are not yet ripe to play.what you the technical bench should know is that fans are able to tell if a player has game or not. We also watch and know who’s doing fine or not , abroad and local.

  10. The problem with local coaches is that every coach called to the task wants to make a new team and write his own headlines,I don’t just understand the criteria these coaches use when selecting players I don’t just know how A.ngonga became wada wada’z best striker we need an expatriate coach after beston.

  11. Pele says:

A word of advice. Being foreign based does not necessarily mean a good player. Our veterans like Kalaba were retired too early yet they play perhaps the most competitive soccer in the world. That Fashion Sakala was just a bubble in the sea. Bring back Chisamba..Kakaba and Mweene. We still need them.
