CCC: Sinkala goal sees Mazembe through to quarter finals
Nathan Sinkala scored a spectacular late volley for TP Mazembe to send the DR Congo side to the quarter finals of the CAF Confederations Cup when they beat Horoya 2-1 at home.
Mazembe coach Mihayo named three Zambians in the starting eleven with Given Singuluma starting on he bench.
Kabaso Chongo and Rainford Kalaba alongside Sinkala and it was the Chipolopolo skipper who broke loose on the right to square the ball for Kanda who tapped the ball into the net in the 14th minute.
With the game tied at 1-1, Sinkala received the ball outside the box which he controlled with one touch to cracked a short from 24 yards which beat Ndiaye in the Horoya goal in the 82nd minute.
Kalaba was substituted in the 64th minute while Sinkala and Kabaso played the entire match.
The result saw Mazembe rise to 12 points to lead group D.
This saw them avoid Zesco United in the quarter finals as they will play second placed Recreativo do Libolo.
