‘Capt Solo’ set to attend trials in Portugal

Zambia Under-20 winning captain Solomon ‘Capt Solo’ Sakala is set to attend trials at unknown Portuguese club, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.

According to the ZamFoot Crew‘s European correspondent Travis Mills, the Napsa Stars defender was scouted at the recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Korea.

“He caught the eye of a few clubs but it won’t be an outright purchase. They want him to have a test (trials) first,” Travis revealed.

‘Capt Solo’ lifted the Under-20 African Cup of Nations on home soil in March. Alongside Chris ‘Captain Fantastic’ Katongo, the duo are only ones to have lifted a major continental trophy for Zambia.

The former Kabwe Warriors defender also helped the Dream Team reach the last 8 in Korea.

At Napsa, he started this season at right full.

While the fantastic five, Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu, Emmanuel ”The Maestro’ Banda, Patson ‘Papa’ Daka, Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya and ‘Mr’ Fashion Sakala are already in Europe, the Chipolopolo faithful are hoping that the likes of  Mangani Banda, Boyd ‘The Tanker’ Musonda, Shemmy Mayembe, Moses Nyondo and Prosper Chiluya end up in Europ

Pungwa that does not count in modern football there have been a lot of short and medium height defenders what matters is agility and skill.

Good luck to the young man. I would love to see Prosper Chilufya in Europe also. Fantastic defender and left foot is deadly even with set pieces.

  7. sly says:

Pungwa is right. I am one of those who have relentlessly advised that Zambian scouts must consider height as they go about their business.

  8. Thoko Ngwenya says:

How tall is Ngolo Kante, how tall Philip Lahm, sadio mane, Dani alves…just to throw some names…average football height…coaches are also looking for smarts, skills, drive and other plus factors not just raw brute force of the type that brought lots West Africans to Europe in the 1990’s
One only has to look at a very significant record in Peter Ndhlovu of Zimbabwe who played for Highlanders and is on record as being the player from Africa with the longest time playing in English premier for various clubs since his late teens…he was not that big but had speed, pace…scored goals and worked hard.

  9. SLIM says:

Centre back position aint for midgets. Midfielders yes can survive there.

  10. Re says:

Prosper chiluya can’t go to Europe now as most of the Zambia’s opponents were using his side to score goals at under20 world cup, he needs more practical in hot and competitive matches as for Brian Mwila he is a talented striker but needs more hard work and no need for him to go to South African clabs
